March Madness for charity

Wow, I had a great idea this morning, and I'm hoping it's not too late. I've been trying to come up with some unique ideas to raise funds for my 3-Day Walk in October. The money goes to Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Reseach. Well, this morning in the shower I was thinking about March Madness and how one guy in our building always does a bracket pool, and the winner gets all the money. So I figure I can do something like that, but give half to the winner(s) and half for my fundraising. I sent out an e-mail to all my friends, plus posted it on Facebook so everyone can see it. So far, I have 3 people buying a bracket. I'm charging a $10 fee with half the money going to the charity, the other half being split between the top 3 brackets. Do you participate in March Madness - either for fun or for money?

To be honest reiny, I just don't know if I have participated in March Madness or not. I seem to recall that I have. I have done so many fund raisers but my mind is not as sharp as it use to be. I'd have to say if I have it's been more than 3 years. As that's how long I've been disabled. This is a wonderful idea that you have come up with. I hope you get lots of participation.

I hope it does well too. I think it should do OK, so far I have about 8 people in it, I think... That wont be for a big prize pool, but there's still tonight!!!

I'm going to assume you're talking about all the basketball playoffs? I think if you get enough people to participate it could be very successful. Maybe your friends would be willing to forward the email you sent to them?

Yeah, the basketball playoffs. I don't really keep up with it, but I've participated in them before mostly for fun. I have asked everyone to forward the e-mail (you know we forward everything else!!!) and so far I've got about 8 people signed up.
