Dog Rescues

How do people feel about specific breed rescues? I ask this because I used to think it was such a great thing. I help evaluate, pull, and transport German Shepherds to rescues. Usually the day the are scheduled to be euthanized at the shelter. I felt good doing it and helping the animals....now I have run into one that is very unethical. They are putting dogs to sleep if they have any health problems instead of treating them. I sent them a beautiful 1 year old German Shepherd. They could have treated his heartworms for $200...but then they would not have made a profit. So now I fear they have already put him to sleep and I can not get answers about where the dog is from them. Sad but true. Don't get me wrong..there are some great rescue organizations out there, but before you support one...research it to find out what their true mission is. This one only has a mission to make money.

i am sad to hear this. i live near a rescue place and they run on very little money and make no profit often going with out their self to give the dogs the best they can. They are in it for the love of the dogs THEY ARE THE NICEST people truely love the dogs and have a no kill policy and have a few that have been there long term. They run it on their own money heart and time with help from some kind volenteer's, wish more were like them. The staffie's are a beautiful breed and are so lucky we have this rescue place standing up for them. GO STAFFIE RESCUE N.S.W

That is so sad that they did that to a dog,I think that they should tell you where the dog is after all you helped them rescue him.Hopefully they came up with the money to treat his heart worm. My family and I rescue dogs from around our area and would never even think of putting them to sleep, thats is why we don't bring them to a shelter. Most people are very generous when it comes to dogs they will donate money for them when their sick or even adopt them and take care of them them self.
