26 Weeks Pregnant and Already Too Heavy

I am 26 weeks pregnant and I have already gained 30+ pounds. I don't want to end up gaining 80 pounds but I like to eat and though I do eat healthy foods a lot, I still like sweets and high fat foods. Any advice for a first-time-mom-to-be that is too chunky?

How much did you weigh before you got pregnant? because those who are actually pretty thin tend to gain more weight and of coarse should. The OB/GYN say people who have a normal BMI or below should gain at least 50 or so lbs and those above should gain only about 30 or so lbs. if you are above consult your dr. maybe try to get your diabetes test early, because there is a type of diabetes that effects women who are pregnant. Tell your doctor your conscerns.

I weighed about 140 and had just lost 12 pounds. I also smoked until I found out I was expecting. I was somewhat chubby. Not obese or anything but not super thin either.

That's not too bad, just watch yourself, make sure you walk a lot, yep, exercise is WONDERFUL during pregnancy, talk to your dr. about your conscern, and best of luck to you!!

Welcome to My Lot. I am also 26 weeks pregnant and haven't weighed myself for months. I think that you could eat as much healthy food as you could manage and do moderate exercise like walking or swimming. I know that after pregnancy then the weight will pile off gradually with some effort. My baby is due on 25th June. How about you? Good luck with your weight.
