can vista do full format?

can vista do full format? cause every time i try to format only got 2 choices for me,1 is install vista and remove all my file ,and 2 install vista and remain my file. i choices first one, but end up i still can see my old window in my program file.

You can't normally format OS as you uninstall other programs. You will have to boot with a bootable floppy or CD inorder to format it. Then reinstall vista again.

boot CD or floppy disk????? i thought starter disk is for window98and below?after from xp don't need right? cause my xp can just format directly from the os.

I don't think you can format being within the OS. That means do you have dual boot in your computer.

no cause all the while I'm using xp . xp can format direct from the os cd.so all the while i formatted my hard disk direct from my os cd. after that i install my newly vista .this is why i do not have any boot able disk . ,i do understand i can copy a boot able disk from my vista now. but how come start from xp , all the while they don't need a start up disk but now needs?

Vista CAN do full format, but you have to choose Advanced (maybe it isn't Advanced but something similar, it is located in the part where you choose on which hard you are installing) while installing it. The best thing for you would be full format, but you will have to backup all of the files you don't want to lose. The reason why are you getting different options than the ones I mentioned is because you try to upgrade your system and you are doing it in Windows and to get the options I mentioned you should do it from the BIOS. You have to setup the first boot device to CD/DVD Rom and then it will load Windows Vista from DVD. Happy mylotting! I hope this will solve your problem!
