The unforgettable Matisse

One day in January, a friend and I were walking along the Santa Monica Promenade, a place where no vehicles are permitted. During our walk, we met a man and his son walking a black Great Dane named Matisse. The dog was awesome. Its height from the top of its head to the bottom of its feet was about 4'5", almost the height of the 10-year-old boy. Matisse was very well behaved, with beautiful brown eyes, and let my friend and I pet him or her. I don't remember whether Matisse is male or female. Today I saw a tan Great Dane, but did not meet the dog. It just reminded me of the day I met Matisse. Do you have memories of an animal that had an impact on you? Please share. Maybe your unforgettable animal is your pet now.

Santa Monica Promenade? Now I'm homesick. I guess it would be my cat Jinx. He just did so many funny things. I miss him. But then there are quite a few cats that I miss.

Jinx is a cute name. I have a cat named Cleo. I'd sure miss her if she wasn't around. Thanks for responding, dawnald. Where do you live now?

I'm in the Sacramento area. I've been here about 3 years. Originally a valley girl...

my animals stories are all up on ac, I have a slew of them. Laddie was my first dog and I still remember him almost 50 years later. He was my favorite dog, and then of course as children have it all dogs are their favorites. There is nothing like a love of an animal.

I have had quite a few unforgettable animals in my life and quite a few forgettable trips to the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica. I use to live down the street from there and it was always much too crowded over there for me. I would take care of my business as quickly as possible and get out of there. They seem to have every place you would want to shop at though. As far as animals, I have had many cats and dogs. But I believe the most memorable animal was a turtle the size of a quarter that a bought in Downtown Los Angeles. It was called a Red Slider and it was just so little and cute. I brought it home to my sister's six children and they really loved playing with him. I use to love to watch him eat. It was so interesting.

That turtle sounds pretty special and made a difference to six children. Thanks for your contribution.
