I have been a big fan of Billy Ray Cyrus's since he first came on the scene with Achy Breaky Heart in 1992! I got to see him in concert in 1993 at the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center. I also got to see him at the last June Jam in fort Payne Alabama, which is where the group alabama is from. I don't remember what year I became a member of his fan club (I'm not in it any more due to money being so tight) but I had always wanted to meet him. Would you believe I got to meet him twice in a week in 1999?! I went to the Choctaw Indian Fair in Philadelphia, Mississippi that summer and I didn't know until a few days before I left that he was going to be there! I met his manager and asked if I could have my picture made with him and he said I could. I even got to give Billy Ray a hug! I didn't get to talk to him much becuase he was in a hurry to go enjoy the fair. He put on a great show that night at the fair! Would you believe that picture didn't turn out, though?! In fact, that whole role of film didn't turn out. I don't remember why. It didn't matter, though, because I got a chance to have my picture made with him again that same week at a concert he did down at Old York in Oakman, Alabama. That's about fifteen miles south of where I live. Of course, I knew several months in advance that he was coming to Oakman.I even got to tell him that I sang and played the guitar down at Old York, myself, and he said "cool"! (I just hope he doesn't think I'm following him!) (ha!ha!). I didn't get to talk to him much here, either, since there were so many people waiting in line to have their picture made with him. I still have that picture on my refrigerator! He put on a good show at Old York, too. I went to the fan club picnic in 2000, which was a lot of fun. It was here that I got a chance to meet his daughter, Miley, and his stepson, Trace. Miley was just seven years old at the time. She would have been eight later on that year. Billy Ray really is a good guy!
