Give Act being voted on

United States

Well they failed last year to pass this so you knew they were going to try again. The house is voting on the Give Act today. IT would basically PAY people to do volunteer work at tax payer exspense. Yep we would be fitting the bill. Our economic is in the dirt and our congress seems hell bent on spending us even deeper. I thought the point of volunteering was to do it for free. If you are getting paid to do it, then it is called a job...not volunteering. What do you think?

Does that mean that, if your state doesn't have the funds in the budget to pay for these *volunteers*, there will be none? This is not a good idea by any stretch of the imagination...other than possibly covering expenses.

There are a lot of volunteer jobs that already get a "stipend" to cover certain costs like travel time and gas expended. Meals on Wheels used to defray your travel expenses, but no longer do this. They have also lost a lot of volunteers because of the high cost of fuel. It would help if some basic costs could be covered for volunteers, although I do not know if it should be done by the Government unless it involves the Gov. directly. Shalom~Adoniah
