Work out at a gym or at home?

I just recently joined a gym and have gone every day since I got my membership. I'm really excited about it because I was previously having a lot of trouble getting motivated to work out at home. It does cost more money to have a gym membership, but I find that so far it's been worth the cost because having a membership I'm paying for forces me to get up and actually follow through on my work out plans. I do enjoy working out alone, so I keep Turbo Jam and pilates dvds as well, for days I would rather be alone, but I think I'll stick with the gym as long as it still motivates me! What do you find works best for you? Working out at home or at a gym?

A few years ago I invested in a Bowflex. I thought it would be great to have it right there at home and I could exercise when I wanted to. WRONG!! It started out good, but went downhill from there. The Bowflex is a great coat hanger and dust collector! You would think that if you have exercise equipment at home that you would use it. I now have a gym membership. I use it faithfully - 5 days a week. It seems to go better there. Best wishes!

Good to hear the gym motivates you...I have been going to gym for four years and tend to find sometimes you can have too much of a good thing though so I tend to mix it up a bit and do a bit of running round my neighbourhood, swimming or like you I have a large amount of workout DVD's at home. The only thing is trying to find the time to fit all this exercise in especially the DVD's because I get really self concious if i'm doing one of those....I really do have to be on my own without an audience.
