how to compress a file to its maximum extent using winrar? / myLot

i have downloaded many files which were in .rar format and were highly compressed.when i extracted it became twice the size of original.i wonder if there are some tools avaible to do this.how to compress a file to its max extent? please tell me.

I was surprised when i saw a file so small today. The size was around 25 MB which was compressed with 7z, inside that was an image file. I extracted that image file with poweriso, guess what was the real file size was, it was more than 600 mb. I've even seen files that are more than 3 gb compressed to 3 mb with kgb archiver. I haven't tried extracting it but.

i too dont know but i can give some suggestion to you, you just go to the www.download.com and make search over it and i hope that you will find atleast some userful information or you can raise a query into the some other serach engine. i hope splitter will be helpful for this kind of problem and all.please write me too...if you find the tool and i too..
