how would you react if the nat'l hero of your country is regarded as a fiction?

i was like "whaaaaaaaaat?" i couldn't even believe my aunt said that. our national hero, dr. Jose Rizal regarded as just a work of fiction?! i couldn't understand where she got that idea. She was born and grew up in the Philippines and i bet she also studied about his life during her time. but she's been in UK for a very very long time now but i believe that should not make her forget where she once belong.
