Wasting Money On Bill Clutter...

I was reading a book recently about clutter. One of the things it talked about was bills being cluttered up. Not cluttered up as in stacked everywhere but having bills that you pay that you really don’t need cluttering up your life. The example the book used was storage buildings. A lot of ppl pay money each month to have a storage building for stuff that they end up never using instead of just getting rid of the stuff and saving the money. I know someone that has a second home. No one lives in the house, it’s falling apart and right now it’s probably got a bang load of rodents and strays using it for a resort. If it was cleaned out and fixed up it could probably be sold and save the family a lot of money in taxes, house payments and insurance money. The owner though has things stored in it and hasn’t gotten around to emptying it. We don’t have any clutter bills…the bills we pay are rent, electric, phone and our games. Since we play the games each month it isn’t wasting it. In fact if there’s a month that I know I’m going to be really busy, I unsubscribe from the game and skip the month. Do you have clutter bills? Do you find yourself wasting money on things you really don’t need but you still pay for it? Do you know someone who’s a big money waster? **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

No I do not have any clutter bills, I cannot even afford to pay my regular have to have bills at this time. I just live day to day and most of the time the ends don't meet.

I have no clutter bills. In fact, I've been downsizing even more than I previously did! My trash pickup began offering a new 2-bag container that saves me $15 a month so I started that this week. I downsize when I can, eliminate when I can. Reader's Digest just sent me and offer of two years for $17 and I'm not sure I'll take it. What do you think? That's $.70 an issue. I do enjoy the magazine.

I have been trying not to spend money needlessly but I seem to find things I want. I have some credit cards that I need to pay off and then I will be less cluttered. I have a friend who cannot hardly make ends meet but every summer she has to take two trips one to Mexico for two weeks and one to Hawaii for two weeks. Now she spends a boat load of money scuba diving and drinking when she is down there. Now she could save that money and pay off her other bills. But you cannot tell her so.

Hi twoey68! I used to have a monthly bill for an extra cable line which was being paid monthly but the extra cable line is not being used. I had informed my husband about it but he just shrugged it off since the extra cable line is connected at my mother in law's room. We have two extra cable lines and one main cable line. I have been paying for the three cable lines and find it really a waste if the other one is not being used. I decided to go to our cable provider and have it disconnected. I am glad I did because it saved me a lot of money somehow. Other than that, everything is in order with our bills. Take care and blessings to you. lovelots..faith

Hi Twoey, I have loads of paid bills cluttered up and don't have the money to spend it on things I really don't need, but at times will treat myself to something. It would be a good idea though of actually getting rid of most of the bills around it would make more space! littleowl

i don't like clutter & have none. my son is the biggest pack rat ever. drives me nuts, he has two or three storage buildings rented which i think is ridiculous not that he cares what i think. lol. he got that from my mother, she was the samre way. i want my bills paid as soon as they come in & i can get them paid. don't even like them lying around. i can't imagine people wanting all that junk lying around their house.

We have gotten rid of any unnecessary bills over the past few months. we are working diligently toward becoming debt free in 2009. I know it won't be easy but since the beginning of January we have paid off five of our bills and only have about four to go before start on paying extra each month on the house and the vehicle. I am paying off the smaller bills first so that will free up some money each month to pay on the others.

I have but I'm learning. I did do the storage unit thing for a while...total waste unless you KNOW that you'll be using it very temporarily. Once I get my credit debt paid up, then pretty much all I'll have is my rent, phone, cable and internet, electric. I am trying to find a cheap way to combine my phone, cable & internet right now...not an easy find. I just switched it all to my cable co. and now my daughter wants to give up the land line in exchange for cells. I don't see that as being cheaper or even equal but we will shop around.

I don't think I do. I'm pretty sure that the money we spend on bills is money that needs to be spent.

Every once in awhile I realize that I'm subscribing to some online site that I never use... like educational sites, or money saving forums. I sign up for a free trial and then forget to cancel. Six months later I realize I've been billed automatically 7.00 a month from my credit card. I hate when that happens.

We don't have clutter bills. Just the basics, heat, phone, electricity, insurances, and health insurance. As the recession got worse, we got rid of newspapers, magazines, etc. We even took insurance off one of the cars until I find work. We have 2 other vehicles to use.

We do have our cable, internet and phone bill, but we consider them necessities. We have digital phone and we get our long distance and call waiting and caller id free. And I get a couple of magazines that I read. I do have a big wok, but that is for company. But we know many of our friends who have summer cabins or cabins at the lake and we decided that we do not need those. I mean we would rather travel where we want to go instead of going every summer to a cottage at the lake. Oh I have some want-needs, but I do use them.

Sounds like a wakeup call for your financial situation if you're paying rent on another place to store stuff you don't have room to keep in your home...I recently had help to declutter my house.it made quite a difference! On the financial side,I could recommend a UK Consumer advice website for info on getting your money situation together.. www.moneysavingexpert.com - the info may be UK biased, but the general info available there on budgeting, downscaling your finances, and more frugal living tips would work for anyone! It has a free to subscribe newsletter, and subscribers contribute and share money saving tips..good luck with the savings!

I dated a guy who had a lot of stuff in a rented storage and he had it for years and years and it really showed! I got the courage to empty it all out a little at a time and got him to go through it and get rid of majority of the junk he had and ended up saving him quite a bit of money every month. So yeah, I know about clutter bills and no I don't have any and won't ever because if it can't fit in my house then we don't need it.

Well, as a matter of fact my one friend as a storage unit and pays for it has all's kinds of things in it. That she will never use and puts it in there just in case one day. My sister has cable and can't afford it and cries about bills and she can't get her meds. as she has no money. Cut your cable and you will. I just got laid off and cancelled all of my games that I did pay for it was only one. And it was $4.99 a month so now I play as a free member as I can't afford the $5.00 as I round everything up. I have cut out a lot on my phone service and turned off my cell phone. I stay home and do nothing but come on here and check other things out. So you have a good day and God Bless. Your friend onlydia
