People buying more off ebay instead of the stores?

I usually buy jeans off ebay instead of the stores. I've found I can get alot better deal than the new store price. Lately I've been missing getting the winning bid more often than not. I'm wondering if people are buying more off ebay due to the recession. I know money is tight for us and we're watching our money pretty closely. What do you think?

sometimes, the selection is pretty big, sometimes you won't find what you want at all on eBay..it depend on what the hot item on eBay..but,usually i will compare the shipping fees and choose the cheapest one before i start to bid..

I do believe that people are trying to find more ways to get things they need for less money. Ebay is one way to do this. I shop on Ebay regularly but rarely buy anything. I usually go to our local second-hand stores to search for bargains.

I buy & sell on Ebay, and lately the only thing that is selling are kids clothing. I like to list in lots, it saves me money on listing fees & saves the customer a lot of money on shipping. To get the best deal try shopping off season. During the proper season EVERYONE is looking.

The only reason to buy off Ebay is simply to get a bargain and something much cheaper than it usually is elsewhere...but lately I've noticed that a lot of things on Ebay are much more expensive than the actual 'proper' shops themselves. As for losing the winning bid, I'm very sceptical about the auctioned listings, when I'm bidding, I always get outbid, particularly if I've put in a 'maximum' bid, it gets raised, and I'm so sure that there is shill bidding going on or the seller is secretly bidding on it to to raise the price, I know there are some genuine bids out there but also some suspicious ones...

I agree sometimes the price is higher. That's where it pays to do your homework and know what something is really worth. I also agree on the shill bidding. I think that's happened to me more than once. If I suspect that is going on, I usually just let the item go.

i used to be a hardcore ebay fan, but then i went to my local ross and found the same items CHEAPER than ebay ever had. it takes alil bit more effort and the shops can be dirty, but i'm sick of paying ebay fees as a seller and know a lot of sellers feel the same way.

i think people are more incling towards online shopping because people have less time to go out to find and shop things. online shopping can help save money too so it is becoming more and more popular everyday
