Construction drives me crazy!

I work in a small office building and across the street they are building a walgreens. I cannot express how much I hate the construction. Firstly, every time I walk by to get a cup of coffee or walk home I step in all this dust and dirt that they put right on the sidewalk. Before I even have time to get mad about how my shoes are dirty, I get these old men whistling at me and saying dumb things. A few weeks ago the power went out in the entire office due to the construction across the street and didn't come back on for three hours. Luckily I live a few blocks away and could go home for a nap. Now today the entire building is shaking, and making a loud noise. Its almost like a vibration. It's making me want to rip my hair out.

I can certainly understand your frustration, but remember that at some point someone built the building you are working in and someone else was complaining about it. And don't forget how convenient it will be to have a Walgreens right next door so that when the next building is being built and giving you a headache, you can walk and get some pain reliever. :) Construction sucks, but it has to happen. If the guys are whistling and hooting at you, do it right back. They are just looking for a cheap thrill, and if you ignore them and get upset, that just makes it more enjoyable for them. It might even make it more enjoyable for you. The more you can make fun of an annoying thing the less annoying that thing will be.

I actually would rather not have a wallgreens next door. Almost anything else I would have liked! I live in boston, so there are enough stores around here, and I am really all about supporting bodegas and small family owned buisnesses.

I will agree with you on that. Small mom and pop places are better, but they just aren't being built anymore. And most Americans don't support them. What was there before the Walgreens went in? Probably at one time there was a Mom and Pop operation, but nobody went there so they closed. Walgreens is at least a tolerable store. Thank your lucky stars that it is NOT a Walmart.
