I am always working on losing weight... lol. I drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, I eat fresh fruit (3 per day), fresh veges (4 per day), lean meats like chicken or you can sub in a cup of 1% cottage cheese which is a really great protein. I also eat only whole grains - oatmeal is awesome to fill you up and it is really good for you. Make sure you include a couple of good fats like a dab of olive oil or margarine somewhere in your meal. I walk at least 30 min per day unless the weather sucks, then I use my elliptical machine for about 30 minutes. When you go grocery shopping stick to the "outside aisles or square" of the store. That is where all the fresh produce, meat and whole grain things are found. Most of what is in the center of the store is processed junk full of calories and not really good for you. You can go to www.mypyramid.gov for lots of really great resources - how many calories you should consume, what foods to eat, recipes, etc. The best thing is to keep a food journal and write EVERYTHING down. Review it at the end of the week to see where you can cut back or make changes. Good luck!
