Starfleet, Starfleet, Starfleet!! Anyone who has viewed my profile will have seen the youtube videos. You may have wondered what they are there for. I would recommend the third video for the cover of the theme tune. The show was called Starfleet and it was a show that I watched as a kid in the eighties, it was only ever shown once here on TV so it was very important as a child to get up early on a Saturday morning to watch it. I have very fond memories of this show as a kid. Failure to miss this show would surely bring on the disapproval of your friends. The show was so influential at the time that Brain May form Queen and Eddie Van Halen covered the theme tune. It has finally been released on DVD all 26 episodes and I ordered it straight away and it arrived in the mail the other day. I watched it all in nearly one viewing, it was everything I remembered from when I first seen it as a kid. It brought back so many memories. Do you remember Starfleet ? Or love the cool theme tune ? What show do you still have fond memories of that you watched as a kid ? If it was released on DVD would you buy it and watch it ? And did it stand the test of time?

I have never seen it. I used to watch cartoons religiously, but have given it up since they seem to be all card playing, transforming, game show types now. I love sci fi stuff, but I don't care to see all the variations of "got this card, fight that card". I used to watch the old Star Trek shows, Kirk, Spock, and so on. Does this have any relationship to those?

Hi Snowcat. I don’t really care for the card playing type cartoons either but the kids these days seem to love them. A lot of those card playing games are more like a commercial for the toys and related merchandise. I think different generations grow up with different cartoons and shows. Most of the shows I have fond memories are shows from the eighties. Starfleet is not related to Star Trek, it draws heavily from the likes of Anime, Star Wars and Thunderbirds. It was a show I always loved as a kid and even now it has not seemed to date and has stood the test of time in my opinion, I too love Sci Fi and absolutely adore Star Trek

Thunderbirds? Was there a show called that, or do you mean Thundercats? If you did mean Thunderbirds, would you tell me about it? I never saw or heard of it. I just get a kick out of names/shows with thunder, cats, or other interesting words used in it. Guess that's why I had to see Monster Rancher at least once. I like anime too. Although I have a hard time remembering things anymore. Swords, magic, unusual powers, all those attract me to a show.

I do remember the show Thundercats, that was a good one. The show I am reffering to is Thunderbirds created by Gerry Anderson, he also did the likes of Stingray and Captian Scarlet, which used marionette puppets. You cand find out more info from these links http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thunderbirds_(TV_series) http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/anderson/thunderbirds/ Hope that is of help. If you have never seen any of Gerry Andersons' stuff , it is well worth checking them out

I've not heard of Starfleet. I'll have to check it out. I grew up on old Star Trek re-runs, and Dr. Who. Namaste-Anora

Yes I grew up with the old Star Trek re-runs too, my Mum was a big Sci Fi fan and gave me the bug when I was a kid. Doctor Who was always a favourite too, the Doctor I grew up with was Tom Baker who was probably one of the more popular Doctors among the fans.
