Right now I'm on sick leave I've been ordered to take. I wander around because I'm not bedridden but feel awful about not working. Its as if I'm cheating with time on my regular job. Do you feek this way when you can't work but think you should be working although its not your fault ?

Bluepatch I don't think that you should feel as if you are cheating on your job. You said it yourself that you were ordered to take the sick leave. So unless you lied in order to make you have to take sick leave, it would seem to me that you didn't have a choice but to take the sick leave. I do not know what the circumstances were that lead to you having to take sick leave but it seems like the decision was made for you and the matter taken out of your hands. Now being at home can be more restless for some people than most think, we (I am one) feel the need to be doing something and not sitting around all the time (not that resting every now and then is bad, it actually is good for the soul). Then there are others that feel a sense of accomplishment after a good days work is done. Whichever category you fall into, you can look at it this way, you have been blessed with some free time so make the most of it. Organize some closet you've wanted to for so long but never had the time or energy to. Clean out your garage, read a good book, donate some time to a food shelter or home (voulnteering is good for soul also). I'm not sure how long you are on sick leave but eventually you will be back. I've never been on mandatory sick leave before but a year ago I had a full time job and a part time job. I was working at least 10 hours a day and raising two daughters part time (their dad takes the other half - important both parents involved in raising children). Now I am working part time and although I am so totally grateful for the extra time with my daughters and although I know God has my back, I now worry every now and then about surviving in this economy. But I have taken the opportunity of having extra time to also get more organized and do things that I could not do when I was working 10 hours a day and since I know my work situation will eventually change, I want to make the most of this time I have been given. Life is all about giving and taking and making the most of what we have whether it's a lot or a little. But most of all do not feel bad, there's a good chance that God thought maybe you needed a little vacation. Take Care Blessings to All

Well, sorry to hear that, old man....... I'm just 27 years old, and may be can not understand deeply about the feelings like your age have... But I've met the similar situation before...also be sick for some time, and can not do anything in work. But I didn't feel awful about not working, not even like "cheating with time". Because I spent the time in staying with my family...MY family was nervous with my body, but at the same time very happy to see me living with them for some days...Just think about it:If I was not sick, how could I get so much time to stay with them? Work is important but not the whole aspect of life.I'm glad to hear you're not bedridden...Hey,what a good news to you, old man? That means you get enough time to do what you're intested, and to show your love and care to your wife and children....Just think about it,what a happy life to anyone~!!!

Yes! Definitely I can't be without my work! I am a Vet working for a Stud farm where weare breeding Throughbreds for the purposeof racing My job involves a lot of challengesand I feel very satisfied and feel delighted to get every small success on day to day basis. I infact work for taking the challenges involved in the profession , salary comes as second priority for me! So once addicted with your profession if some one asks to stay away from it then it would definitely hurt me a lot! For that matter I am known a s a workaholic amongst my collegues and friends! Thanks like topic of discussion!

Since my job is quite physically demanding, I had to take a total of 8 weeks off work following two surgical procedures last summer. It drove me crazy!! I went back too soon after the first one and did myself no favours!! I found it more frustrating than 'guilt inducing' whilst I was off but, when I went back, I felt bad that there were certain tasks that I had to ease back into & people were helping me out by taking on the heavier stuff.
