I've just started learning Japanese. Can someone help me understand this language. I want to learn Japanese because I'm watching anime often. You can post here your messenger (windows live/yahoo) and we can talk about it. If you know Japanese and struggling in English, i can help you. Hope many people will be willing to be my pen pal .

I'd love to learn Japanese: I've tried a couple of times and never have the time. I get as ar as "watashi-wa Spike desu, dozo yoroshiku" and then life throws me a curve-ball! One tip: if you can find them, get hold of an old TV series from the 80s. The first episode is called "I'm Yan" (search for that text string and you might well find them somewhere online - I don't know if they're still under copyright or not). They're basic Japanese lessons and - apart from the little skits being REAAALLY tacky and dated - they're absolutely brilliant. I think there are 52 in all. Unfortunately, I left my copies in France when I moved.

There are actually some sites out there which are very good when it comes to learning japanese. For example www.thejapanesepage.com I'm a member there since a while and it helped a lot. You can downlaod stuff for free (but there are also thing you can "buy").... check it out - it's worth to reg. if you really want to learn language. Trust me. When you know you want to learn japanese you should first think about - what do you want to learn? Do you want to be able to write? Read? Talk? Most people start with learning Hiragana, than Katakana, than grammer,....

My sister also like to watch japanese anime. I always hear words like 'Dai jo bu ka?' means 'are u alright?' or 'it is ok?'. The words 'Chotto matte kudasai' or 'Matte!' is often used in japanese anime means 'Wait for me!'. Well, I am not a japanese and I am still learning that language. But I hope that helps. Believe me, when u watch japanese movie, you'll hear those words. Nihongo o benkyou shimasu, ganbatte kudasai yo!
