No people at NBA games! Why?

I was recently at an NBA game and there was honestly about 1000 people there. I really don't remember there ever being so little of an amount of people being at a game. I know that there are economic problems but why is it this bad? What do you think could be done? If the NBA keeps going at this pace, they will never bring back the amount of revenue that they had just last year! Thanks for your comments.

Me and my husband wanted to watch an NBA game but we can not afford the tickets. It is beyond our budget. Hard times like these we always consider first what is best to do with the little cash we have. And money spent on NBA tickets can very well go a long way for food or payment for utilities. They could at least lower the prices of tickets and better yet consider the amount they pay for the players...they earn millions.
