Has anyone really been able to quit smoking permanently?

I see many ads that they help in quiting smoking permanently. Also, I've seen many people spending money to do so. But, almost everyone returned without giving up the habit. What do you say on it?

Hi prasanta, I know hundreds of people who have stopped smoking permanently in the past ten years. In fact very few of my friends smoke anymore and most of them quit with the patch, though some used other methods or quit cold turkey. Blessings.

Sir, I have seen very few. There are people who leaves again picks up. Only a major medical problem makes people quit smoking -- as I have seen mostly.

Everyone in my family has attempted to stop smoking, but we've all gone back. My sister holds the record, managing to kick the habit for almost two years. But her husband took up smoking again, and she fell back on the wagon so to speak. I've tried numerous times, but I can't make it more than a few months. And the last time I did, I did because someone else pressured me into it, which is one of the worst ways to try and quit. I figure when I'm good and ready, I'll kick it.
