What positive storylines would you like to see?

I feel like Y&R has had a lot of "downer" storylines lately. Katherine's struggles have been heroic, but she's really had a very hard time of it...it's been difficult to watch sometimes. Neil Winters is seemingly deciding to throw away his marriage for Tyra. Billy is just using Sharon who seems barely aware of what she's doing these days; Chloe is probably going to hook a second husband who is anything but devoted to her. Kevin has been severely traumatized by Clint and his list of crimes is growing by the day. Even perhaps the most cheerful story of the week, Adam's getting out of prison, is colored by the problems Adam is having with his vision. While some of these storylines will probably lead to happy resolutions somewhere down the line, I feel like Y&R is becoming something of a doom-and-gloom fest. If you agree, what different sort of storylines would you like to see in the coming weeks? Here's what I'd like to see: #1. More Colleen. I really liked her reemergence as a serious character and have been disappointed that she's basically vanished off the radar. Although she is young and kind of a fish out of water on the Newman board, I'd like to see her portrayed as someone who takes her job seriously and who can make it in the corporate world. Let's see her come up with some fresh ideas. Ideally, it'd be great to see her get a seat on the Jabot board too and really follow in her father's footsteps. #2. Let Eden do something good. She's so far been a well-meaning girl who nonetheless constantly gets into all sorts of trouble, which does keep things interesting, but I think she needs to make up for her past mistakes. It would be great if she could save someone from a catastrophe -- perhaps it could even be Sharon, the person who was so sure Eden was responsible for taking the books she herself shoplifted in one of her klepto moments. #3. Some Abbott solidarity. Jack's kind of by himself these days. Ashley is very much on Victor's side of things. Billy's affair with Sharon is sure to shock and anger Jack...plus Billy got to be CEO of Jabot with Victor's help. It's going to be tough, but it would be nice to see this family resolve some of their issues, particularly since Jack makes such a big deal about what it means to be an Abbott. Why not bring Traci back, too? That could give Jack at least one family ally even if Ashley and Billy are more in Victor's camp.

I agree with you. It is rather depressing lately! I hope they do something with Colleen and Amber and give some ambition to the show witout including the Abotts nad Newmans. There are other people in town!! Send GLoria awya and her boys have a chance!

Oh, coffeebreak, you're always ready to get rid of someone on the show! I can imagine what a positive storyline for you would be..."Genoa City has been ravaged by a deadly disease! Half of the characters have been killed. It's time to start over." Actually, though, I bet the show won't always be so focused on the Abbotts and the Newmans. It wasn't originally about them so maybe new families will be the focus in the future. I know I can't imagine the Newmans without Victor as the patriarch somehow.

When it first started it was the Fosters (Jill and her brother Dr. Snapper Foster ala David Hasselhoff) and Mrs Chancellor was in there somewhere and John and Dena Abbot. I had to stop watching a few years as I went back to work and it was before VHS recoreders! It had the kids - Lauren, Danny, Tracy and soon Brad the pool guy and then Jack and Ashley. But then the abbots and the chancellors started at it as the fosters kind of dwindled but it wasn't until recently that Jill was determined to be Kathrines daughter. What would I like t see happen? Kathrine and Murphy get married, then she gets her memory back and by then Kevin is caught and she helps kevin. They she and murphy take the four kids and start a new thing with them... helping htem with their dream.. amber and her fashion, daniel with his drawing and Jenna/Kevin with the coffee shop. Get away from the selfish, holier-than-thou, wealthy bed-hoppers for awhile! Give us some normal people that we can like and enjoy their lives and be happy about instead of just "bet she goes to his bad next" or "he'll probalby demolish him next".....

I definitely want to see Katherine and Murphy get married also, and I think we will see it eventually. The writers are just having fun torturing us by bringing those two closer together only to take them away from each other again...having Nikki and Paul interrupt Murphy just as he was going to propose was their cruelest trick yet. One positive of Jill perhaps not being Katherine's daughter is that the Chancellor house will be a lot cozier with just Katherine, Murphy, and Esther...I bet Chloe and Delia will be spending more time over there in the future. Jill's so independent-minded that she ought to have her own place anyway. It's easy to imagine Katherine and Murphy exerting a guiding influence on Daniel, Jenna, and the rest of the younger set. I like that idea, too. They could be a force for good in Genoa City to stand in contrast to Victor/Jack's forces for greed.
