What do you give others?

What part of you or your belongs, your cash, your what ever... do you donate, give up or other wise share with others. Do you lend your strength to build up some one's home? Do you give food to the local food pantry? Do you give the books you've read to the local struggling library? What do you do to make life better for your world?

Not a lot I am afraid chimes! I am afraid all I can share is my sense of humour , my empathy and a friendly word or hug - just hope that that is enough to help those who need it! xxxx

You my friend make the world better by just being in it. Those things are what makes days easier for folks like me who think to much. A smile is one of the greatest gifts one can give.

when i feel that i can make someone happy, i go for it. usually, i give less fortunate people used clothing, slippers, shoes, bags and foods. my heart easily mends and tears easily fall. i am just an emotional, tough girl..i love helping other people, even if they hurt me.

You know what... I'm just like you. I hurt easy but try to keep a smile and help even those who stomp on my foot. Giving warmth is a great way to help... clothes or smiles... warmth of body or heart.

With us it's Easters Seals (my son has a form of Cerebral Palsy) and MDA (because that's what they thought he had) so both get our time and money as well as a couple of Autistic organizations. My most recent thing was to make some hand painted bags to be actioned off... they were a hit.

I wish I had the strength to help others but all I can offer is advice and experience. I DO give to Goodwill and Salvation Army. I also buy from them, helping to keep their employees working. I give them clothing, books, magazines, movies (DVD's), blankets, etc. Yes, they sell them, but at a significantly lower cost than new. Each year, I donate to our local volunteer rescue unit's annual fund raiser. My son comes over once a week and chops up trees and large branchs that have fallen in our recent wind storms. He's taking that firewood and using some himself and giving some to others who have a fireplace. We've lived here for almost 2 years now and every year I plant more fruit and nut trees. I add more berry bushes and grow vegetables and herbs. This year, I plan to grow as many vegetables and herbs as I possibly can and eat them fresh, but also plan on canning, freezing and drying as many as possible. I plan to give my sons enough for them to live on for the next year, plus give them extra so they can give some to their friends, coworkers or neighbors who are struggling. Whenever I am out with the general public, I ALWAYS give everyone I meet a smile and "Hello". You never know if that might just make all the difference in someone's day.

Your advice, and experience is a great thing to share but even more so your smile... it makes a world of difference some times. Hubby and I hope to buy the empty lot that is on the side of our lots. If we do we will plant an urban farm. There is a major need for fresh foods around my area. Sounds like you have a great plan.... Here's to a good growing season.

I bet that car changed that persons world into something a bit better. And time is a great thing to give to people. It's the smallest things that some times makes the difference.

I never throw anything away until I'm sure it can be of no use to someone else. I'm available for friends if they want simple things doing like a lift, some sewing or whatever. It's difficult to pinpoint exatly what I do but I'm 'there' for anyone and if I am not working then whatever they need doing, within my limits, I will do.

Very good! Re-use is a wonderful way to help and it helps the environment. I think one of the things that helps the most is our time. Money is great, but time is priceless.

That's great. I know one familt that throws out all their clothes and I think that's such a waste. Wonderful!

I do different things. I give clothing to those who are in need be they local or in another state. I have helped people pay bills they did not have the money to pay. I've bought groceries for those in need. I always give to my husband's work yearly food drive. I support St. Jude's hospital because it's a place I believe in. We've given cash to those who are homeless who have asked for it. I've lent paper and supplies to students. When teaching I always keep basic supplies stocked for students who might not be able to afford them. It really depends upon the need around me at the time. I feel strongly though that if we all helped our neighbor, we'd see a quick change in the world around us. Namaste-Anora

I try not to give cash to those who are homeless... just because in our city there are some dark folks out here. I find out what they need and get it if I can. A meal, a blanket, something like that. Sounds like you really give to others. That is so much nicer then those who take and take or just set out to hurt others. Be well.

I never said I didn't treat people with anything but respect. But cation isn't demeaning and most people would understand such measures. I am one of those people who lived on the streets and slept in cars. I walk the streets of this town daily and know what I live with. "Mother Theresa was not that afraid. Gandhi was not that afraid." Yeah, knowing what I do... I really see them in you and the way you treat others. Speaking of judgmental have you ever looked at your SELF in the mirror? I don't know how anyone can read me the way you do unless that bitter heart of yours really does color your glasses. Find peace and love, Go in health. Be well.

The large percentage of homeless are Vets and children. I'd never want to make a judgement call and be wrong. Namaste-Anora
