I've been a fan of Cynthia Voigt, Dr. Seuss, Enid Blyton, and Roald Dahl. O.K., the Harry Potter author too... For me, they are the best writers of children's fiction ever and they made my childhood a lot more colorful. I think kids should start reading early on because it will be an important part of their lives when they grow up.
What children's books can you recommend? I will be sincerely grateful for the suggestions.

I started with Treasure Island, and then the classics like Oliver Twist, Great Expectations. Later when I discovered Enid Blyton, I really enjoyed reading about the adventures of the Secret Seven and the schoolgirls; and those fairy tales of elves, pixies and so on. Though the classics were nice, Enid Blyton books are more fun!

These are all great authors you mention here. I agree with you that children should be given books to enjoy at a very early age. Chris Van Allsburg and Shel Silverstein are two noteable authors that might also be added to your list. There are many great children's authors out there.
