Why do we live to eat...Shouldn't we eat to live?

Everyone knows the best part about eating is when you haven't had a meal in 3 days and you're starving to death. Food all of a sudden looks better than gold! But I'm sure if you don't believe me, try starving for 3 days and find out. Anyway, the purpose of this conversation is that eating is one of the most amazing things in the world. When you sit down and really eat the foods you love, there's no better enjoyment in the world; the competition comes close. I really like hang gliding. Furthermore, those fresh salads with amazingly wonderful salad dressings are so relaxing and mouth watering. There are a lot of healthy foods that taste amazing. Why is it when you're thirsty, you crave something more than just plain old cold water. You want a soda, Sierra Mist, or perhaps something with just a little more flavor in it. But water and mineral water is all you have to drink in order to survive. It turns out that we don't eat to live. Otherwise we'd be eating pure healthy foods. We live to eat!!!I love Top Ramen, it is one of the most amazing foods I've ever eaten. Or those nice tasty McDonald's Hamburgers. One thing I really enjoy is the fact that food tastes too good in order to eat more healthier. But to end this conversation, who has the motivation to eat healthier and stop eating for pleasure?

I think that a lot of times we do eat the wrong foods for the wrong reasons. A lot of us eat when we're not even hungry, just because the food is there. I don't think that eating for health and eating for pleasure have to be mutually exclusive, though. I've been experimenting with "health foods" over the past couple of years, and I've found out that many of these foods are incredibly enjoyable and often I would prefer them to a non-healthy option like a hamburger. But there are some "unhealthy" foods that I enjoy eating as well because I like the taste. I think the key is moderation. You don't have to eat a hamburger every day (or even every week) to enjoy hamburgers. I eat one maybe once a month and I find that's enough. I allow myself to have a small amount of a dessert food each day, and occasionally I will have a soda if I'm in the mood. I don't think that most foods are inherently "bad," they just become unhealthy because of overconsumption.

I dont know. I'm largely in the eat for pleasure mode myself. I think there are some people who eat the way that they should but I am not one of them. I guess there are some really good foods that are low calorie, but I think I havent found them yet. I guess there are foods that I like that may not be too bad, but I dont know.
