I think I have a mild asthma

Never been diagnosed with it. This morning, I drank some orange juice and my chest started to tighten up and every once in a while I would cough up some mucus. I was having some trouble breathing. I couldn't eat anything because I was so uncomfortable. That was hours ago and I still feel a congestion in my chest and a mild ticklish sensation on the right side of my chest when I breath in and out. My lungs feel sore as well as if I had just had a heavy workout. For those with Asthma, is this what you experience when you have an attack? I know true asthma sufferers have it worse than what my experience was but could my symptoms be a mild asthma? I have an appointment at the end of next month for a checkup and I am going to ask if I could get tested for it. What are your experiences with asthma?

I dont really have alot of experiences with asthma. I sometimes get some wheezing now and again, but I dont think that has to do with asthma, just being alittle bit overweight and having to exert myself is the main cause of this. I havent really known anyone with asthma before.

go to an asthma specialist, i went to one and i found out i've had asthma for some years without knowing it. asthma can develop if you have allergic rhinitis, which was my case. do you wheeze a lot?

I don't wheeze, no but on a good note, I had orange juice after that episode and I was fine. I don't know why the juice only gave me trouble that day.

Do you have allergies in general? Usually around February or so my seasonal allergic start hitting me and allergies are known to make one feel congested and a bit out of breath too. I see some of your other answers here that you started having problems after drinking orange juice, and then today after eating cereal with bananas, could they be the culprits? Sometimes when I get really bad bouts of bronchitis that triggers asthma like symptoms. Oh, btw, I was going to answer this last night but didn't get a chance to, but I had noticed there had been one poster that was downright nasty (won't mention his name)...but now I don't see his response here...he had a lot of nerve being so negative and nasty to you

Yeah, that guy was rude. I reported him so they deleted his posts and my responses. I still don't know what I said that was so wrong to make him react the way he did. The man has serious issues. As far as the breakfast I had this morning, not sure if it was the bananas that triggered it but if I have that same cereal without the bananas I don't have a problem. I do have an allergy to cat and dog hair and do have eczema in the winter. I would like to have another p*ick test. I am not sure what to make of my symptoms. I had one years ago and they told me I am allergic to dust mites, ragweed and corn. Funny though, I eat food containing corn syrup all the time and eat corn and don't have any problems. I also sneeze when someone cuts their grass.

Hi all I am a paramedic of profession and sounds like what you had is a case of asthma, and as said not severe. This could have been severe and quite fatal. Asthma can be treated with inhalers etc, but there are also natural cures which works really great. One of the best I have seen can be found here: http://www.sti.za.net/asthma.html Take care and happy days.

i have asthma and when change of weather i get an attack. it is best to see your doctor so if it is really asthma he can tell you what to do to avoid attacks and to tell you what to do during attacks. you can also get a list of food that you should not eat to avoid attacks. hope it is not asthma. it is really difficult to have asthma.

I hope not either. My aunt has a mild asthma and she is 80 and she uses an inhaler. It doesn't get bad for her thank goodness. She didn't get it until her 70's. I was shocked you could get asthma that late in life. When I go to my primary next month, I am going to ask him to do a test. I had the same symptoms this morning and this was after eating cereal with banana in it. Just hoping I am not going to be one of those people who is allergic to food. I like bananas and oranges so maybe I just have to stay away from those for now.
