Hey I have a 1000 miles ahead to go visit my family to northern California in May 09. Here's the thing I only have 5 days overall to take and also would like to take the cheapest route. If I fly it would take me to get there in just 5hours including taking of, landing and getting a rental car =Air fare including rental car would be $700. Now If I drive it would take me 17 hours I have to drive nonstop to be able to get there and not waste my day= Gas probably around $ 150 with my 32miles per gallon car= food at least $50 me and my hubby. Which route should I take the cheapest route but I would lost my days because driving is boring takes forever or fly which only take 5 hours but it will cost more? Which one is logic to you? I am really debating on this one. Because I like to take the least I could spend money but also I would like to spend less time by getting there. So friend help me.

In your case, probably the best is to fly.
yes, it's more expensive- but you don't do it everyday. And driving costs you less money, but you won't be able to enjoy yoyr stay. You'll be so tired that you'll have to use all the remaining days to recover. And then drive back, and again be so tired. It'll be months before you regain your strenght.
Better to spend more and have a life than make economy (indeed a big one), but being unable to enjoy.
If you can not afford to fly, than better stay home. Better for everyone.
Hope though, that you can do it. enjoy and have fun! That's all life is about.
Should be.
We work so hard, we have the right to enjoy life from time to time.

I'd probably have to say that flying would be a better option because you'll get to your destination faster and have more time to enjoy your time with your family. Not to mention, driving looks like it would be a hassle since you'd have to drive for such a long time almost non-stop.
