bronchitius is in the bronchial tubes, tracheitius is in the trachia

My colds don't turn into bronchitis. It does however take me a long time to get rid of the cough. I've had my cough for two weeks now.

yes it is very common to move from a head cold to a chest cold. Usually if I get a head cold that is what happens too. But I rarely get a head cold, I get more chest colds and bronchitis is when it is still up in the throat and hasn't even progressed to the chest and lungs yet.

Yes my colds can quite easily turned into bronchitis because I have an inherited weakness in my lungs. So I am very careful about colds, the first sign of one, and I will be eating raw garlic - that usually does the trick. I also use 3% food grade hydrogen peroxide in my ears. It seems to work, unless it is psychological. The mind is very powerful and if used correctly can work to improve the immune system. - Derek

It has done that for me a couple times and yes, that is aweful. I usually get a cold in January-ish and then it seems to last until spring and then I deal with sinus after that until it gets to be like 80 degrees outside, but since we moved into this house and we turn the dryer vent into the house during the winters and it keeps the humidity up in the air, I have not had so much of that problem--thank goodness. I hope it doesnt turn that way for you, and that you feel even better tomorrow.

Hi moneymommy..I am glad your cold is getting a bit better, but now the awful cough. Yes I used to get nasty coughs til my sides would hurt so bad I would be holding them when I coughed. My doctor had told me that bronchitis is something that if we have it, its always in us. IT just breaks out more when we are sick. Also I used to be a smoker so that surely didnt help either. SInce I quit, I hardly ever cough at all, and I hardly ever get sick either. I sure did when I was younger. I had phnemonia almost once a year.
