Should they also be put to death or given life in prison? If you believe that abortion is murder, then how can they be punished any differently than how society punished murderers now? If you don't punish them at all, then why even make it illegal?

I don't believe in abortions nor do I support capital punishment. I think prison is the place that a criminal should go to. If abortion is made illegal today then abortions that happened yesterday or longer ago would have taken place when it was legal to have an abortion. However anyone having an abortion in the future if caught might face going to prison. In prison there might be a murderer for example a 28 year old man that murdered a person that he really hated. That man might have been given life in prison. There might be a man slaughter in the jail. She might be a driver of 35 years old that has killed a person that was crossing the road. She might stay in prison for ten years. I am pro-life and think abortion is wrong. In a way abortion can be considered murder because life begins at conception. I am not sure how many years in prison a judge would give a lady that has had an abortion when it was illegal. He wouldn't be able to put ladies in prison that had abortions in the past when it was legally acceptable.

If it was made illegal, that wouldn't it be the parents of the child, not just the mother, as they would both have to decide to abort the 'baby' (fetus).
