I really cant tolerate people who make sounds while chewing & biting. It frustrates me a lot as I dont like to hear those weird sounds. One more is the person who coughs. It really irritates me a lot. Do you like to eat with people who cough & make sounds or do you feel irritated with some other behaviour of the fellow eaters?

This is sad that people think it is such bad manners. I have a sinus problem and have breathed "heavily" as I've been so rudely told where even though my mouth is closed when eating my breathing is easily heard. I remember in highschool being crushed when a woman who was supposed to be mentoring me turned to me and said "You sound like an animal, do you always breathe like that". I'm a very shy person and very lady like in almost all aspects, so this crushed my spirits. I wouldn't go on dates for a very long time because of it. Even as an adult I try to avoid eating with anyone because I don't want someone making comments. So, when other people have issues such as noise, or what not I tend to dismiss it because I know how embarrassing it is for me, and how hurt I've been over it. Namaste-Anora

when you have some problem its ok but the truth is some people who dont have any problem make disgusting noise which is very annoying to say the least.Again, you say that even after closing your mouth & eating you do get breathing noise which we are not blaming. The woman who commented on you should not have told you that but if not interested to sit with you while eating could have gone to another table.

Thanks for the BR. I am glad to know that people take into consideration other's health issues before just making swift judgements as to if they are being rude. I would hope we could all learn from this, and be a tad less judgemental, perhaps a tad bit more compassionate, and all would be happy. Namaste-Anora

In fact, this is something that really gets on my nerves. Many times I go to eat, and the people who sit beside me are chewing with so many noise and it really irritates me. My brother use to do it a lot when we at in a family meal and it always irritates me. On the other hand, I can't tell him to stop with the the noises while he bites and chews because he doesn't do it by puprose. Sometimes he doesn't notice that he makes a lot of noise and sometimes when I tell him to chew easier and quieter, the noise is stop for a minute and after a minute he starts with all the noise again. I don't think I'll never be ok with this noise while I'm eating and it will always disturb my meals.

Sometimes its not good to point out the mistakes of the elders & let them know how to be & how not to be right?

I do not like people with dog habits. It irritates me when pep ole chew their food loudly with their mouth open. These are bad manners. As far as cough is concerned,it is O.K.because it is not the habit of coughing which a person deliberately does.It is just a sickness which can happen with any person.

LOL, What a great question! I try to be open-minded and not judge others..But sometimes, it can be really annoying, especially if I have a headache or have nothing to listen to but that person's weird noises. lol. I mean, it's not really their fault, but it's not something I enjoy listening to.

Its really their fault or their parents' fault as they did not teach him/her how to eat while sitting with others isn't it?

That is one of my WORST pet peevs... I cannot stand people who eat with their mouth open and made strange noises. I have only met a few people who had that distraction with the intensity that I do, and you sound like one of them. It used to bother me to even be around people who were chewing bubble gum. It's taken a LONG time to try and get over it. It still bothers me.

I can understand coughing sometimes, but the one thing that annoys me is smacking. My younger sister is nine. She has a friend who is about the same age. She will smack on anything just because she enjoys the noise. Its rather annoying though. I tell her straight up to stop when im around. I hate it. She has a learning disability so i try to be patient with her.

You can always tell the children directly not to make noise while eating but what would it be to tell to the elders?

Hi, krupesh, Oh, I feel the same way! But in that condtion, I try to tell me myself, just bear a moment, it will become better! When I was young, my parent always tell me how to do while eating. That state is absolutely not allowed.

As for me, parents pays all of their attention to our growth, we do all know that they love us so much, but they do not realize that they limit our freedom, which is we can not put up with it.

Gross... I don't like to eat with somebody that cough and eat loud, I just feel uncomfortable even if he/she is on the other side of the table. It makes your appetite goes away.

It is a bit irritating. It also matters who that person is. If he/she is your friend, then you can tell them right away that such an act is irritating. However if the person is someone respectable, then you can't so much about it. Just laugh it away.

No, I am sure that I wouldn't enjoy the food anymore when someone near me is coughing a lot. He should excuse himself and go to the rest room to cough and not be coughing there in front of the food. This can be very disgusting.

You are talking about enjoying, I would rather feel too bad and may even getup from there and would go sit some where else making some or the excuse for my such action. This is one thing I cannot stand in any case. I have gone through a few such occasions and always found it too tough to go through the entire duration.

Dear friend, I hope those kind of people would have taught some good manner. I could somehow manage the sounds but cough and other smells is bit uncomfortable and it might even make me not to eat my food.

That's very irritating! I have a friend who's pretty, with a gorgeous body, and dresses up properly, but she makes sounds when she eats...and it's really very very irritating. She does not close her lips when she chews, and she looks likes a goat chewing grasses. It's really disturbing, so what I did was I told her about it in an honest way, but she ends up hating me because of what I told her.

I really hate that. Sometimes you jsut dont have a choice. I agree its bad behavior or maybe they don't even know they are doing it. I also don't like when people chew there food and dont keep there mouth closed.

blah! people do it all the time; ever hear anyone belch after eating? That really turns my stomach. Go to the restroom for Heaven's sakes. sometimes, tho, coughing can't be helped anymore than sneezing as long as proper etiquette is performed such as using a hanky or tissue. Otherwise wierd noises have no place at a dining table!

I kind of get too irritated and want to run off from such places, I do not like people who have no manners and feeling for others feelings. I would like to stay away from them and would never share a table with them if I know any of them is in habit of any such bad way. Some people have not been taught how to behave.
