Do you often rate others' responses?

For me, I never hesitate to rate someone's response with a "a good one" or "the best response" if I really found it very helpful and reasonable to me. But till now I have never rated someone's response as bad since everyone has his own opinion which may differ from me. Do you often rate others' responses? Share your views here, please?

Hi my1341! I have rated others' responses as negative on a rare occasion. But only if the response had absolutely nothing to do with the topic and was obviously hostile in an attempt to provoke argument and/or just in general mean. To date, I have only rated about four responses as negative. I mostly rate responses as positive though. I prefer to reward positive behaviour rather than acknowledge negative behaviour.

Hi, Thank you for your quick response. I think you have played an important role in the sound developmet of mylot.com because your negative rating must have reminded someone to be careful when posting. Thank you very much!

I rate others responses if they are really good or really horrible and off topic. If someone has a different opinion from me but still answered the question in a way that I can tell that they actually read it, I won't give them a bad rating. If I can tell someone didn't read the question even, I won't hesitate to give them a bad rating.

This probably might be the reason why my reputation just increase a point. Just kidding. At this time, I am not able to rate anyone yet and I am not sure if I will be doing it in the near future. I am just overwhelmed with excitement every time I log in and voila I'll forget about it already and the attention shifted.

That might be true about our reputation value. Someone has told me that our reputation value may get increased when others give us a good rating to our responses. Good luck!

I do like to rate other peoples responses too. Especially when I find that somebody has made a nice contribution and one which is meaningful to a discussion. I think in all my time at myLot I have rated someone negatively only once. That was because I found their comments very insensitive and offensive. Usually when I disagree with comments made by another member I am more than happy to ignore them and move on but I have only ever rated negative one. Much prefer to rate positively!

As far as rating is concerned I will never rate others negatively. Whether or not they agree with me I will always rate them positively. Unless of course they post some offensive words in their responses. I wish to see people motivated in their participation here when they see their rising starts.

I agree alegnaluvu. I think it is deplorable to give other people a negative rating just because their opinion is different.
