Practical marriage OR Dream wedding? Which will you choose?

Many people want a practical marriage these days. Something which is not costly because the recession reared its ugly head. Others still want to get their dream weddings even if they can't afford it. I don't really care because what's important is not the "grand" event but the promise of a "happily ever after". Well, that's just the romantic inside me talking out loud. What will you choose: practical or dream wedding?

Hi inky... I got married a couple of years ago. We didn't have much money to spend on the wedding but it was nice anyway. It just wasn't the grandiose affair that most people have. Still the end result was that we were married and that's what really mattered to us.

My dad and step mom had a simple wedding in their house. They did not have a lot to spend on a wedding either. It was a nice wedding even though not too much money was spent on it. Just because something cost more does not make it worth more

Hi phoenix - that's such a lovely comment, "Just because something cost more doesn't make it worth more." Thanks for that - I'll remember that!

Hi inkyuboz, If I were to choose I want to have my dream wedding but since we can't afford it, i also don't like the idea of borrowing just to fulfill such fantasy! LOL! We had a very simple wedding last year and as what you have said, the most important thing in marriage is the promise of a happily ever after and the love for each other...I am happy in my life and who knows in the future, like silver or golden anniv, we can afford to renew our vows with a little realization of my fantasy! LOL!

I want to be married out doors, a small wedding beside a lake. I just want friends and family there. I have not really planned my wedding in detail. Saying that I have not found the one that I am going to marry yet there is no real rush about it. My best friend's parents had a hippie wedding beside a lake. I always wanted a wedding just like theirs was.
