Believe in religion would raise war sometimes.

The question is, would religion capable of raising war? Some people might use religion on the purpose of manipulate a large group of people, to control them do whatever they want. Vivid example was the terrorists group. Mostly, they did it on the name of their God. Is it right to destroy things, and harm other people like that. Million of innocent people. What kind of God they believe in would teach them do such thing like that. From the preview of new release movie called "Angel & Demon", they use the same theme for this movie. Religious war. From history until now, it repeated itself over again. I thought that most religion teaches people to harmonize, and be peaceful. Forgiving is the key word to most religion too. How harming other innocent people justify their acts?

The fact is, most people only focus on the differents between religion. they compare each others and states the negative values the other religions have but never notice about the godd values both religions have.

Yeah, you find these groups of fanatics in all kinds of religion. What makes it all silly and useless is that their whole agenda is proof that their religion is the best and the only truth. Yes it is the truth to that particular individual beliefs but you can't shove it down other peoples throats and make them accept it. These people have misinterpreted the holy books and chose to belief it the way they see fit. Its sad really.

Religions can become tools or valid reasons for waging wars when human beings succumb to their inherent inner darknesses, such as greed for power and authority, being controlled by them. In this case, their "gods" they believe in are in fact the evil demons in their own hearts.

Religion has been used as an excuse for war throughout history. It is just that, though -- an excuse. As always, it's economics and envy that make wars happen. Somebody wants or hates what someone else has. If it weren't religion, there would be some other excuse, because people don't like to admit to their weaknesses.

No, I think fanatics cause war. People who just has this sadistic twisted mind who want to influence people in a negative way to run their "war". Note, these people are totally fanatically insane. And they're just looking for young weak minds that are just looking for something to do. It's just sad that this has been going on for generations.

It is something that is keeping me thinking about this recently very much. Not that I never thought of it.But the recent Terrorist attack on our country has compelled me to think so. There are few war mongers and very bad people who brainwash the uneducated and poor young guys to take radical form of religion to kill people in name of their GOD.

I think its the fanaticism that ignites it but if you would basing from the basics of each religion you wouldn't find anything that teaches violence at all. Take for example Islam, they are never for violence at all but then because of religious fanaticism they've turn it all around and the meaning of it became very different at all. Same as with other religions around.

I don't know what the sacred writings of other religions teach, but the Christian Bible teaches me that I'm to love my enemy. Of course that didn't stop some in the church to try to force nonbelievers to adopt Christianity. Those, of course, were the periods called the Crusades and Inquisitions and those tactics didn't work. You can't force someone to believe as you do. But I don't think there's anything wrong with sharing your beliefs with others.

If only those who pretend to be believers of their faiths actually followed the teachings and guidance of those prophets who preached those respective faiths, there would not be any conflicts nor wars or terrorism - there would only be mutual respect for each others' views and beliefs instead of Crusades, Jihads, Religious "Senas", etc. - and this world would be a wonderful place to live in!

Well, I think religion is made-up purposely to allow such kind of things... From ancient times, they (we) discovered some gods...just to have a motivation for our actions... Like u know, Templar Knights starting the Crusade just to get rich, Muslims having wars thought Europe for the same reason, so it's a tricky action. Me being Christian by family, but agnostic by nature, I tend to refuse the god idea, cos God has nothing to do with our stupid and idiotic actions (We are created supposedly in his image, no?)

All you have to do is look to the jihad to know that is true. Fighting over religion is the worst kind of wars in my opinion.

Religion is the excuse many corrupt would be politicans use to declair war on others. The very concept of religious war is a hypocracy, when the very religions declaring war on eachother promote peace and love. These people are not truly following the path and commands set out for them by their own faith and as such cannot truly call themselves member of this faith. It is these corrupt individuals are dragging down the good name of religions. People should not be allowed to say that their actions of war stem from religious beliefs because all the evidence points to otherwise. Rather than blame religion for war, and thinking that without it there will be peace, instead blame the morons who are just thinking about their own personal gain.
