Do you take a certain amount of time each year, just for you? What breaks do you get away from the housework? Do you ever switch off for a week and let your spouse or partner take it over?

We equally share the responsibility of housework. The exception now is that he is unemployed so he does the majority of the work. When I have a day off I usually do the cooking and laundry.

I prefer to do the laundry myself. The man is driving me crazy! He won't stay clear of the laundry despite my pleas! He is getting better at it though. Took him long enough!

I really dont like anyone doing my laundry but me....and thats because so many of my clothes do have different instructions for laundering. I like to take good care of them because I have clothes that I have had for years. Appreciate the response.

Hi eaforeman dear! I really could have a break from housework when I am on a vacation but my last vacation was a few years ago. I regularly do housework but my husband helps out occasionally. That means when he is not busy with his work or when he gets guilty upon seeing me so tired. And sometimes, I faked the tired look on my face when I know he is watching me. haha... Take care and blessings to you. lovelots..faith

We used to go away each year for a couple of weeks or so and that was a great break from the drudgery of housework. These days we are confined to staying home so I do take a break during the Christmas holidays while my husband is on vacatiuon from work and he can take over a bit, but I find that it is definitely not the same because no matter how hard I try to take a well earned break I am still relied upon to sort things out. So two weeks was the longest break I had from the house but I think those days are well and truly over now!

Yes, many of us will have to stay home instead of taking vacations. I do understand. It may be some quite some time before we have those long breaks again. I do appreciate your response. I doubt I will be going anywhere. I am going to stay home too.

We share the daily duties so we never really are overwhelmed. The housework has to be done, so best to do it with a happy heart. Namaste-Anora

I clean to music and sing while I work. I do have a happy heart about it. I do think that it is nice for the person be it man or woman or both to get to take a break. Appreciate the response and have a wonderful evening.

I do what I can when I can. I'm not one to worry about having the spotless house. I'm more focused on my family having a place they enjoy and friends who alwasy feels welcome. Yes, I know we do have to clean, but it gets overwhelming. I try to do one thing a day that I wouldn't normally do. Like clean a mirror or the windows in room, or work in a section of the yard. Depends on the day what's going on and how sunny it is outside :-) My husband helps with the dishes all the time, the laundry when needed and other things like grocery shopping and such. I am blessed to have such a great family.

Since we have moved into our house in 2006, the longest break i have had from housework was 4 days because i went out of state to visit my nephew. My husband does our dishes. (well he loads the dishwasher) Other than that i do it all. I am a stay at home mom, so i dont really expect him to do alot. He works sometimes 7 days a week so i cant really complain. How i wish i were rich & could afford a housekeeper though. I dont mind cooking, but i hate to clean.

When I had a week's vacation and got to spend it on the coast, I really enjoyed having the break. I love keeping my home, I found that the time off made me feel better and come back even stronger. It was so nice to have one week, that I was not the domestic godess lol

I do not have a spouse or partner to take over but that is also pretty good as I do not have to answer to anyone if I decide to let things slide for a few days.

That does make a big difference, because you dont have someone saying where is my dinner, and where is my underwear lol and wanting to be catered to. It is different, when you are with someone, you cant just do what you want to do.

Not really. If there are housework to be done and I don't want to do it, I just leave it at that. Time would tell when I'm going to do those housework. lol
