I just found out today that about 15-20 years ago where our subdivision is used to be a landfil!!! This explains a whole lot of things!!!
One it explains why the grass won't stay alive. We have resod the yard 4 times to no avail it will not live.
Two it explains the poor soil (well it is florida sand) quality we have and why we have to add topsoil and peat and manure to get anything to grow decently!!
Three it might even explain why we have so much plumbing problems.
I wish I didn't know what I now know.

I could see where it would cause plumbing problems. But I would have thought that growing things wouldn't have been a problem at all. After all, many people make composts piles to use as fertilizer!
On the other hand, I don't think I could live on top of a landfill. I certainly don't think I'd be letting my kids play outside in the dirt. How is your health?

They really should have let you know that before you moved there. On the one hand I know one never wants to know about something like that, but on the other hand, it's a good thing that you do know, because now you know the root of a lot of the problems you're having with the property.

I am now living close to a landfill but it is far enough not to bother us but we do have to pass by it when going to and from our house. I do not intend to stay there long. I want a better place for my family. Cheers!!
