This may be a silly question, but how do we know that Snopes is reliable? My Dad sent me an email about Target being bad and stuff. I checked it on Snopes and it said it was false. I sent it back to my Dad. How do I know for sure that Snopes has the most up-to-date and correct information? Is there somewhere else I could check their results, or is Snopes pretty much comprehensive?

Readers Digest (April 09 issue) just did an excellent article/profile on Snopes called "The Rumor Detectives." It told how they investigate each and every story to prove it's true or false. If they're working on it, it will say undetermined. Very interesting article on how they track down the truth :) They investigate every thing so thoroughly that it's really impressive.

So, Snopes is the be all and end all in internet rumor investigation?
