Writing is the written form of speaking. Try to expand your exposure, be smart in finding things interesting happening around, which you want to express your reflection and opinions, to share with people about the news, and learn experience or lessons from it. Set up the main idea, and find details to support the point. By time order, comparison and contrast are the most common structure.

I would start by checking out Associated Content and Triond. If you have not written before, I would get a "how-to" book at the local bookstore. Pick familiar topics that you already know something about at the beginning. Draft a brief outline, and then write the article. Let it sit for a few hours or overnight and go back to proofread and put finishing touches on the piece. As you build your portfolio, you may want to get one of the writer's markets publications.

Thanks Jumarno: you inspired a blog post for me. http://www.wordophilia.com/how-to-write-articles/ That's how I write them. It may not work for everyone, but it works for me. If you're not a native English speaker and you're writing in English, the step of checking spelling, grammar and punctuation is even more important than when you're writing in your mother tongue. As always, let me know if you need more info. Always glad to try to help out!

When writing an article, you have to first find a niche topic about which to write. Create a title that would accurately reflects the article's content. See to it that the title is keyword optimized. It is also good to tell readers about what they could learn in your article.

What are the subjects that you know best? Do you have a hobby, interest or passion that you love that you can write about? There are a lot of resources online for people who want to write; you just have to get started.

I would say there are a couple of rules that anyone hoping to sell their writing should understand: 1. read the instructions given by the site or organization requesting the article; different formats or key components may be mentioned; ignore these at your own peril 2. proofread everything you write: check your spelling and grammar; if you are weak in these areas, brush up with a book or exercises; a great article that doesn't use "there" and "their" properly will not do well 3. have a good opening paragraph and a closing/summing up paragraph 4. don't repeat yourself, write as clearly and cleanly as you can Good luck with your article.

Hi, I assume you have no experience in writing and submitting article online. So before you even start to write, it is good to study the articles written by the best writers. Helium is a good place to start. This writing site has a lot of titles, and writers write to a specific title. Some popular title has more than a hundred articles in it. By studying the top few articles, the middle few articlea and the last few articles, you can see the difference in the writing standard. Once you get the idea of what a good article is, write to the title. All new articles will be placed in the middle of the title. Your article will be rated by Helium writers, they will compare and rate your articles. After you submit a few articles, you have a few "leapfrog", meaning chances for you to edit your article and re-submit for rating. Helium system is a blessing for newbies, giving us a chance to compare and compete, to learn what kind of article appeals to readers. I am very new to Helium too and still learning. As an example, please look into this title "Personal Philosophies of Education" http://www.helium.com/knowledge/32766-personal-philosophies-of-education There are a total of 132 articles in this title. I am bias when I ask you to read this title, because my article is currently in the 3rd place. I admit that my article is judged and not good enough to overtake the 1st and 2nd. As a new writer less than 2 months old, Helium has helped me a lot.
