One of my good friends mother has depression.... hers is not a violent kind.. but she is soo psycho about things like..... the building where she lives has caught fire..or someone is going to come and steal from them... she keeps checking the door to see if its locked whole night... Then i have another friend whose mother is more of an aggressive kind.. if she doesnt take her medication.. she turns violent.. like once she took a chopper and chased her son's friends from her house... How do you get depression???

I suffer from depression. It isn't bad. When I go through depression it doesn't last for long. Usaually a few days. I take meds for it and it helps some. Alot of thing make me get depressed! Worring about money and bills! Stress,my weight, someone saying something,tv news, news on the internet, when I am sick, and lots of other things can make me depressed! In the past I have had therapy but it got to the point where it wasn't helping me anymore! I wish I didn't have to battle depression! It sucks!

I have had depression when I was younger around 20 years of age. Depression is very hard to spot and to treat realistically the way I managed to get over it was purely and simply trying to train myself to think positively. I didnt use any medication, just worked hard thru the dark days. Now how do you get depression it could be a whole numbers of triggers anything from loosing your job to just waking up one morning feeling down.

neither of those people sound like they have typical depression. depression is not normally associated with violence like your 2nd case. I have had depression for years. i cope with it but its not easy. i take medication which dulls the sharp edge of it a bit.
