about public toilet

I wonder what a public toilet, I mean those are accessible to general public with the common access from street, is usually called in english speaking countries. as far as I know, in residential home it is usually called bathroom while in public places, such as in a mall, restaurant, bar, they are called washroom or restroom. but how about those out on streets?

it depends which country you are in,
in the uk it is the loo
those things outside I believe or porto potties,

Winterose, are you in Canada? what do people there call those public toilets out on streets? what writes on the sign outside of those toilets?
