Have you lost interest in Mylot?

I have just heard you say you are addicted to mylot and it is a good place to meet friends and work your mind out. But why are you not here anymore? Have you lost interest in mylotting? Have your friends here no longer interest you or you have found comfort somewhere else? Because you refuse to post new discussions mylot is forced to dig deeper to unearth past discussions to fill the gap left by you. I can't help it but to be in 'today in history' responding to all the past discussions as far back as two years ago.
Have you notice that mylot is recycling old discussions? I realize that not many are posting new discussions and many members are missing in action. I know there are still here as their profiles are still standing proudly in mylot. But why are they hibernating and no longer actively participating here? Have you seen the number of past discussions suddenly making their appearances? Do you think it is because mylot is not getting fresh discussions that they resort to recycle past discussions or was it the newly introduced task that is affecting the posting of new discussions? What ever it is hopefully this is not a permanent lack lustre that is so prominent in mylot these days. Lets put mylot back into its glory by giving it our undivided support. Keep posting and we keep reading and responding. This is the only thing that keeps mylot going.

My enthusiasm for myLot is not waning at all.
There are several of my older discussions being revived and the reason is very simple - I have not made many new ones. I have never been one to start a lot of discussions but I have made a lot of friends here. There are many new users among my friends too and they go to my profile and fish out the older ones where they had not responded. On average I start three a week, maybe four but certainly not tens daily - that is not my style and nor is it what myLot is about either because I like to get back and comment on all the responses and I can't do that if I have lots of new disucssions around.
As for older users not being here... who knows what their reasons are?

I don't think you are as you are quite active here. What I feel is that members are not posting many discussions nowadays unlike before where I don't have to wait for discussions to appear in my emails. When I first joined this site there were non stop flow of discussions and I have free reign of topics to choose. But sad to say it is becoming slower and I have to resort to friends started column to check on discussions which are a mixture of old and new posts started by my friends. I don't mind it at all responding to old discussions as I have done so many times but I am perplexed to the lack of newer posts from my friends. And their missing in action is leaving me in darkness. Yes, I do have many newbies in my list and I agree that is maybe the reason the old posts resurfaced.

My notifiers are overwhelming most days. I don't manage to keep up with as many as I would like too. Have you tried the 'no responses' tab? There are many there always.

hi zandi, first time i have had anything from u in a long time. good to hear from you.
i have not lost interest in mylot but i do think alot of people have. i don't hear from alot of people i use to. i didn't know if it was me or them. i don't like those recycled discussions. once i have answered them , i don't re-answe. is that fair that mylot picks out certain people's to recycle. they should do everybody's that way if that's the case. i questioned a lady other day that i had already answered the discussion sh sent awhile back. i thought she was just usung it again. she admitted that ihad already answered her . i don't know now if it was her or mylot. i think alot of people are just not satisfied & think the grass is always greener on the other side. [of course i don't believe that.]i really enjoy mylot & it is alot of company to me.

Hi Antiquelady, I have not been able to post here for few days as I have been busy with so many things happening around me lately. How can I remember whether I have responded to a discussion that is two years old and sometimes I don't bother to go through all the responses if I want to response to it and only after I have send my response do I realize that it is a recycled posts. I did respond twice to a discussion and was quite embarrass when the poster replied my second response by saying that I have already responded earlier and to my horror my first and second responses totally differ in views. The poster reduced my embarrassment by giving me a BR just to pacify me I suppose.

u are acting like me now. i'm always doing something goofy. so just the club we'll all go down ti=ogether. lol. i mi9ss seeing your discussions but i understand how u cab be busy, i miss busy. i use to feel so stressed out sometime when i was working but i do miss busy. i try to stay as busy as i can now. my mind can handle it but my old worn out body can't sometime. lol

I myself have not personally started any new discussions
lately, but I am not known for being a big discussion starter
anyway! I am more comfortable responding! I didn't know that
mylot was bringing out old discussions from way back! I have
been here for 9 months now and didn't eve realize what has
been happening here. I have had some personal problems lately
that have kept me away from being here as much as I would have
liked to be, but I am back now until I have to go to see my
mom for awhile and then I will be away because she has no
computer and I don't have a laptop to take with me. I will
try to post some new discussions myself now that you have
said this.

If you have no time for posting, responding is good enough Opal. We need others to read and response too as discussions will not be effective if they go un-responded. So either way as long as they are responses coming in. Thanks for coming to my post today.

excellent question here. I think that MyLot, like any other social site must be continually working to shape and reshape this site to help keep the people interested. With so many sites open today from facebook to myspace, people have so many options that that can and do "pick and choose." We are no different here than say the job market. When jobs are plentiful, people are in control and can be picky. When they are not so plentiful, the employer becomes the one thast picks and chooses. If there were only 2 authors in the world, the author could pick and choose where he wants to be published. {Don't I wish it were so...lol} But with over 2 billion "wanna be" writers and as many great writers flooding the market, welllllllllll... guess who chooses. Not Me!!!! So here we are in MyLot and we read and we write and we look at the other sites that have pics and games and goodies to choose from. The people are good here and there IS money to be made here if you choose to open a lot of discussions and comment a Lot. There is perhaps easier money to be made elsewhere. MyLot and the people here need to come up with ways to keep the interest here. A non-changing site is destined for emptiness. Band together, start discussions about what people want to see and find at MyLot and then USE it to enhance the Site. ]

That is exactly what I meant to say. Mylot should be sensitive to the needs of its members. They should come up with some changes that are exciting, challenging and competitive for its members. They should seek to compete with the many newer sites which are throwing out many enticing incentives. But for the diehard fans of mylot many are happy with the present setup regardless of what happen they are faithful to mylot. But still many good ones have gone, those friends I made before were no longer here. The new ones did not even stay here long enough to warm their seats. They leave as fast as they come in. But like minded people who have found comfort in friendships and exchange of views are unlikely to go too soon. Writers like you and the many I met here should be more active and inspire us to read your good writings. Having you and others here will no doubt give mylot a good star rating among the many social sites.

Thank you sweet lady for your wonderful comments and compliments. I think that MyLot needs to organize some challenges and open up forum for maybe some short writings{although all of my responces look like short stories lol} or offer MyLot dollars for top users etc... Above and beyond the Normal pay. Just thoughts.

Yes I think I am losing interest at the moment. I have much more important things to settle in my life than to sit here on mylot. I do treasure the friendship I managed to make here but I dont have the luxury to spend a lot of time as I used to do in the past months.

As far as I am concerned, I have not lost interest in mylot or in my dear friends' discussion here. It is always great fun and entertainment participating in friends' discussions and reading their comments and counter-comments. As far as surfacing of old discussions is concerned, I think, whenever any of our old discussions is replied by any of the members, it gets reactivated and you can see the same in the list of discussions 'started by friends'. I see new members keep posting new and interesting discussions and there is no dearth of discussions here, provided one has the time and inclination to respond to them. I on my part keep replying to my friends' discussions, as soon as I get time and keep posting new discussions to enrich the forum.

Yes, you are right, we have different set of friends and that might have effected the 'interest' factor on mylot. But do keep coming here on mylot, as and when you can, otherwise it will be dull and boring without you.

Maybe we differ in our friends. Your friends are active in posting and my email has not been getting discussions as it used to be. I don't know but maybe it is me who has lost my interest here. But because of the many friends here I have no intention of ditching mylot. I am here to stay.

I was gone for a while because of sickness and then no computer. I lost what little money I had because I waited too long to log back in. so I'm back trying again and even harder.

I can agree with that. I don't spend the time I should here, but that's because I'm sharing a PC at the moment.
Mylot has always had more fluff than substance. The trick is to encourage the substance and ignore the one-line "Do you..." articles that are totally meaningless.
I have chosen my group of friends (you're obviously one of them) very carefully because the majority of their posts will make me think.
There are many here that post nonsense only to try to bump up their points. I am here to get ideas and communicate with a small group of people.

Thanks Vladilych, for having faith in me. I am proud to be in one of the 'chosen' few in your friends list. I am here for that purpose too, to learn and get varied ideas from knowledgeable and experienced people. Unfortunately there seems to be a brain drain when many seniors left this site for good. The lack of quality posts has reduced mylot to more of a classroom standard. That magic that has drawn people from all walks of life is fast thinning and the need to rekindle it back to days of its glory is urgent.

Ah, an intelligent poster! I feel much the same way as you do. A few years back, people were posting on really interesting subjects but even then there were rarely many replies. Which is a shame because if, say, someone has taken the time to inform me about the moons of Jupiter then I feel I should at least read what they have to say - I might learn something.
I've added you to my friends list. I'm hoping to create a University if I get enough members. Miskatonic 2 sounds like a good name ...

Newly introduced tasks have made mylot users to devote more time to them. I don't have any interest in them and that is why you could see me moving in day to day basis, besides I am starting a discussion per day as I am not very good in starting discussions but you are right, now we can see recycled discussion most of the time as we are not getting much new discussion posted here. Most of the users who were good in wirting are busy with tasks only, which is good for them, after all they will get much more on tasks for the same hard work they will do there!

The task maybe part of the reasons people are diverting their attentions and no longer active in participating in the discussions. Like you, I have not tried my hands on the tasks simply because it is time consuming and I prefer to stick to the discussions as I find it more interesting and it involves more interaction amongst friends here.

Hi Zandi,
Since l install a new anti-virus software to my laptop, it gives me quite a lot of problems because my system is not function like usual. It goes really very slow, that's why l had lost interest in online for a while. l try to fix the problem as soon as possible, so l can mylotting like usual again. Yes, seems like digging-up past discussions had been the current trend in mylot. Thanks for waking me up.

you know why a lot people here to get pay , after sometime they found the pay is too litter they getting lost interest.i think maybe mylot should do some thing like when you hit how many post you will get some bonus ,then people will go ahead with that bonus without lost interest .don't you think so.

Maybe that is part of the reason. But not all people here are for the money. Some of them are here for the fun and making friends. Your suggestion should be considered seriously by mylot and this may help to prevent the mass exodus of members.

I'm noticing a lot of discussions, but I feel like I'm often reading the same stuff over and over. Maybe I need to re-arrange my interests. Maybe certain interests that attract the same posts should just be deleted off my list for a while. That would allow for other interests to come up as updated on my front page. I love mylot. I mostly reply to discussions, unless I feel like I have something to ask or worth sharing as a new discussion.

I used to be on mylot nearly every night but its not so much Ive lost interest, I have taken on a second job which is evenings and I feel mylot isnt as appealing as it was when I first started!!
I have also got addicted to facebook though since most of my family and friends use it.

You are right. Mylot seems to be slowly losing the magic that glued people here. I think the rapid growth of many social sites posed a great challenge to mylot especially places like facebook and the latest one mypage 5 which is very catchy and the incentives are good.

to me mylot seems to be a chore lol u have to be in the mood to want to get involved in discussions. People do seem to be going elsewhere, be it other pay sites or social sites. Mylot has become very slower since I first joined it!! I thought it wasa fab when I first joined and managed to recruit a friend and she enjoyed it, but she then had to focus on other things.

I never lost interest in myLot. I was a member here long time ago, but when I recruited to the army, I though to myself that I won't have the time for myLot. Few weeks ago I came back because I missed that site, and i'm happy with my decision. I forgot how fun it is to be a member here, and responding to discussions.
