Why?...please explain to me why some guy feel the need to grunt when they lift weight.I know it's hard but,do they have to be louder when i'm beside them?I mean it's annoying and a little embarrassing for me.I'm not impressed by the fact that they can lift 200 pounds,i don't even pay any attention to them, but when i go to use the machine beside some of those man they start grunting. What would you do if you were me,would you say something, because everytime i think of saying something i feel that i'm going to laugh....so i really don't know what i could say.

There really isn't much that you can do. Lots of guys do this. I admit that I do it sometimes too. I am not sure I do it louder when there are people besides me, I think you know why they are doing it- to impress others at the gym. Honestly, lifting 200 pounds is not that impressive, and go ahead and laugh if you must. Haha.

HAHAHA! I laughed just reading this. I can imagine myself...the dainty small Asian woman standing near some big burly American man as he grunts his way to his hard six pac...and I'd laugh at him too. If he asked me what my problem was, I'd tell him there's lighter weights available at the woman's center if those were too much of a challange. Then again, I could keep dreaming...
I suppose the reason people grunt...is to center all their attention onto that one task. If you're quiet, you could easily be distracted? I dunno...just a theory.

I agree with blion23, laugh at them, but even if you say something, they probably won't stop. I'm not sure that they're doing it for effect, but saying something would most likely make it worse. Best case scenario, you make a guy who didn't even realize he was doing it, feel bad. Worst case scenario, you get a real jerk who proceeds to make your little statement a federal case. Either way, you won't really win.
If you can identify who the really bad culprits are, you could avoid them when at the gym. For most, I think it's just something they do without realizing. We all have things like that.

..Aaaaa i feel better,Thank's.
