Hello all, I have smoked for years and actually quit once but of course I ended up starting back. I am now pregnant and have been trying to quit but seem not to be able to. Do you know how to put an end to it once and for all? I can't do the patch and am afraid of things like that durring pregnancy because im not sure how my body will react. I would really appreciate any and all info you have on this. I have tried cold turkey, reducing my packs per 3 days and trying to stay busy but it don't work for me. Please help me and my family. My husband has agreed to quit also but we have to do it at the same time. lol. Thanks to all and God Bless.

I am not a smoker so I have no answer for you. But I imagine it's a bigger struggle when you are pregnant to quit. Have you spoken to your OBGYN about it? That's the first call I would make, as they have experience in mothers who are smokers and can suggest ways for you to curb or kick it for good. Good Luck to you & congrats on your pregnancy!

Thanks for the response. No I haven't asked my doc because my last visit was a month ago and I actually thouht I was going to be able to do it myself because I was down to 3-5 a day but now am back to my normal pack a day and can't get back down. I am going to ask next week when I go but also just know that there are people out there that have been there and done this so I would like to hear from them also vs what a doc would advise though he has never been in my shoes. You know what I mean? lol. I do thank ya for your post though! At least someone is aknowledging me, makes me feel loved! ;) God Bless

You don't have to wait til your next appointment, you can call and ask to talk to your OB's nurse and express your concerns as every day counts when you are pregnant...

Thank you all so much for your responses!!! First let me say that the only reasons I think I smoke is pure habbit, lol... my bodys addiction, being bord and stressed because it don't relax me, you are right! but it takes my mind off of things. I have gotten where I hate the smell and taste of them but am really afraid to stop. I try to put it off on the most important thing being the baby but there is always this little voice saying hey you smoked with the other two and they are fine! I hate this really! I want to just wake up and not want one! lol. I say it scares me to just quit because of the withdrawals my body goes through. I am scared that will hurt the baby more. Please keep responding I think your reassuring me is helping me to believe I can do it. Reading your responses brought tears to my eyes! Thank you so very much! God Bless!

Hello. I am 20 weeks pregnant, and I am still smoking. I don't know how to quit. I feel guilty everytime I smoke, but I still cannot stop. I don't know what to do. I get weird looks from people when they see me smoking, expecially at work. Sorry, this doesn't help you any. But just letting you know that your not alone.

Yes you need to quit for the sake of your baby too. You must constantly think about the health of your child and that should be part of your motivation. It will help anyway. I think you should keep yourself busy getting things ready for the birth and stay focused on this baby. Don't be distracted by something that is not good for you and the baby. Be positive and believe that you can do it as now someone else is depending on you, someone innocent and very much pure. How pure their health is depends on you. We are all counting on you! You can do it!

I am also a smoker once before I was diagnosed with chronic kidney failure. I've been in dialysis treatment for six years now and I even continued smoking through my illness. i have always planned to quit, but never being able to. until one day, i stopped. i finally found what i've been lacking from my previous attempts -- the will to fulfill a promise you made to yourself, and making a stand against temptations. I know it would take a lot of willpower on your part, but if you want, you must put your mind and will unto it. good luck!

Thanks for the response. I am so sorry for what you are going through. You make a great point and trust me I have tried to fight the urges and would be more comfortable fighting it if I weren't pregnant just because I get so easily stressed and it even shows on my skin. I have lost 3 pregnancies before this one and want to stay as stress free as possible. I don't want to put unnecessary stress on the baby although smoking isn't good niether. I just fear losing my baby so I am trying to find something that will make it less stressful. Thanks so much. God Bless
