Hi guys, given these two options, which do you prefer? Online Shopping or Real Life Shopping? As for me, I personally prefer real-life shopping as you get to view the items personally and decide for yourself. Online shopping is definitely more convenient and also prices might sometimes be cheaper.. But you don't personally get to view and judge the items yourself and it might even be risky. And the whole experience is totally diferrent from real-life shopping. I don't shop online, rather I order online.. Mostly food and groceries.. So what do you think fellow mylotters? Which of the two is better? And also, if you do shop online, what do you shop for?

I love shopping online. It is so much easier than going into the store. Did you know that you can get cash back at almost any store online that you shop at? Check out my website about getting cash back online: http://www.squidoo.com/cashbackshopper

i prefer real-life shopping because, when doing so, i could check the item if it has problems or not, if its working or not, and etc. but in online shopping, if the item delivered to you has problems, whether some parts are missing, or is not working, it takes a long time for it to be checked or redelivered, and its a waste of time, because you need to mail the item back to them. it is maybe cheaper to buy online, but it is risky, because you are not sure of the item you are buying if its is real or just a substandard thing that is made to look exactly like the product shown in the site... i only shop books online cause, most of the books that i want is hard to find in some bookstores.

I don't own a vehicle so sometimes it is just easier to shop online then it is to be able to get to a store. I would prefer a store where I can see the merchandise clearly and fell it and test it's durability. I have had thing bought online that once I received them I was not happy with at all because it seemed they were not what I expected. So maybe if it is a store I am used to that does quality things or I know I will get good bargins and merchandise because I checked out the merchandise before.

Question... when you order food and groceries online, is it of good quality when it arrive on your door? I usually shop clothes and toys online but I'm afraid of ordering food online.. please tell me your experience about it.

Hello Anne, you're asking me a question back? Hahaha.. Yeah, when I order food online, the food are always in good conditions. I order from known and trusted companies, of course such as Macdonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut etc.. These companies have guarantees and refunds if you're not satisfied with what you get.. I also order food from this uncle cuz I've been to his place and like his food. Always go with what you trust.. This is my advice..

It is really difficult to choose because each has its own perks and downside. I love real-life shopping because I get to try the clothes and see if they fit well or look good on me. I also enjoy strolling on the mall even though it really gets tiring. For the online shopping, a lot of items are available online which are not sold in our country and that's what it makes so cool to shop. Downside is, I really get anxious because I still need to wait for the items to be delivered and also I usually pay high cost on shipment.

Oh vanity is my favorite sin. Most of my online purchases are beauty products and clothes that are not sold in our country. The farthest country I purchased a polo shirt online was Germany Just imagine how much I paid for the shipping and the number of days I waited for it to arrive in the Philippines

Hi bubbletush, what you've said is true.. It's really exciting waiting for the item to arrive but it tests your patience.. haha.. What do you normally buy online? Antiques?

Same with you, i prefer real-life shopping than online shopping. Like you said, in real-life shopping, we can touch, see and pick the product we are willing to buy directly. Some items even can be tried first, like clothes, we can fit it before buying. And also, this far, i can find all the things i need, at store or supermaket and boutique near my place.

Well, real-life shopping is definitely better as I can really judge the thing I am buy and also as per my convenience regarding quantity, size, colour, company etc. I don’t know about prices really coz the on-line sites charge shipping extra so it comes to same…rather I can bargain better at real shops. However, there are some branded products which are quite expensive and I don’t want to waste actual money on them…so whenever I want to buy them, I order them online using the money I earn here. Being branded, I am assured of the quality and company and I don’t mind paying extra for them.

Hi sudipta, wow, you buy branded goods online huh.. But it's of course definitely worth it.. Cuz it's branded, you can trust the brand and they won't cheat you.

I would prefer the real-life shopping. I have done some online shopping in the past few years. I have some good and bad experiences somehow that I can share to the myLot community. Some advantages of online shopping: (1) You can shop online without going out (saves time and effort) (2) It will be delivered to your doorstep on your requested date. Disadvantages of online shopping: (1) There are some scam sellers (2) You need to pay additional shipping/courier fees (3) If you are buying some clothes, its hard to tell if its really going to fit you or not. You are lucky if it fits on you. In real-life shopping stores, they have fitting rooms . (4) Products may seem to be cute on the picture posted online but when you receive it, it may not look cute. (5) If you are buying gadgets or electronics and they said that they will send it to you via courier, you can not be sure it the product/s is working well as it may have some defects. If you go shopping in real-life stores, you test it before you buy it. (6) The last but not the least, online shopping has NO RETURN NO EXCHANGE . In real-life stores, there is a 7-days exchange policy. So if you don't like the product/s you bought online, you don't have the chance for a return or exchange.

I prefer real life shopping though sometimes online shopping can give you better deals. I am an online seller but not a buyer. I only bought once through online and that was the only time. For groceried I just go to the hypermarket to get it. Everything under one roof so it's easy.

Hi eagle, yeah online can definitely give you better deals most of the time but nothing beats the real-life experience of shopping in real life.. Anyway, what was the one item that you bought online? Must be real hard to find it huh..

Hey zahfran! I guess you are right about ordering online! I have been pretty lucky with the things I have ordered online! I got a computer workstation which I was very happy with. I also got a couch slipcover with matching pillows. I ordered alot of jewelry from Bidz.com! I think that is all that I have ordered so far! I do love the ease of which you can just order things sometimes. But, then there are times that I want to see things first and try things on like clothes. I won't order clothes online.

Hi, i still prefer real- life shopping over online shopping. Through real- life shopping I get to view and check the items that I am purchasing. I like to request for new item of what I am buying instead of buying the display item. On the other hand, I cannot make sure that the item I am purchasing are unused when I purchase it online. Online shopping is good for buying digital item such as airline ticket and we don't have to collect paper tickets from airline agencies like it used to be. I do buy items that are not available for sale in the country I am living in provided that the price are reasonable and there are free international shipping service provided.

hmm... i like real life shopping.. at least you can feel and see the things you buy before actually paying for them.... i have this feeling that i need to see the goods physically... to see if they are in good condition.. before i buy it... especially food products... because you never know if they are starting to rot or not of good quality....

I do both, if I am looking for something lets say a suit etc etc I will have a look in real life in the high street. Then if I like the suit I'll shop online and buy it saves me usually anything from 10% to 50% of the high street retail price. Obviously thats only on more expensive items where its worth getting the savings.

Hi benny, great tips there.. I never thought of doing that.. Sometimes I see a nice item on display and I'm just tempted to buy it on the spot.. I never thought of looking online where we can get it cheaper.. Thanks a lot for the tips! :)

well, i shop not only on the internet, but also in the real life. and precious things must shop in the real life, i think. and we always buy something not so expensive on the website, for example, clothes for kid, little accessories and something else. and yes, there are really some risks for shopping online.

I shop both ways. If I know something is cheaper online then I do that way. And one advantage of shopping online is I get only what i need or want. Now when I go into a store I often tend to pick up tons of things I really don't need just because it's in front of me. I tried ordering groceries online at thanksgiving time because one of our local grocery stores delivers for a ten dollar fee and I waited to the last minute and didn't feel like going to the store and deal with the crowds. A couple things that I really wanted for my Thanksgiving dinner I could not find it online so I ended up going to the store after all and canceling my online order.

I have never tried online shopping although many say that I can find cheap items. I would rather go shopping in the malls than do online shopping because I am sure of the quality that I will be buying.

Normally I prefer to shop in person so I can see what I am buying. HOwever when it comes to certain things like clothes, sometimes its fun to shop online and see more variety to choose from. Then its fun waiting for it to come and see what its really like and trying it on. SO really, I guess I like to shop both ways..I would never buy food online though

For electronics, I usually look around online and offline. However when I choose to purchase, I usually find it online cheaper by a fair amount. For other goods such as food and groceries I shop in real life as I get to examine the huge varieties and just pick up and go instead of waiting for shipment. I would say real life shopping is much more safe as sometimes online transactions don't go the way you want to ie. Ebay.

I personally perfer real life shopping. You get to look at what your buying and ask questions look at the quality of it. I rarley order online. The only time I order online is when I absolutley can't find what I want in the store. The benifits of real life shopping. Employee help, easier return policy, no paying to send it back, no extra charges for shipping and handeling, actully seeing the product and knowing what your getting, your infomation is not taking a chance of being explorted all over the internet, Getting exactly what you want at the store verse something being shipped and it is wrong size color item ect.. Cons of ordering on line: risky, information getting into the wrong hands, not getting exactly what you ordered, paying for shipping cost, not able to visually see merchanice, judge the quality, ask questions about merchandise, harder to return something, sometime harder to even get a hold of someone if something goes wrong, Its just better to go real life shopping for me I can get out and it counts for exercising. And I like to go bargain hunting.

i love both online shopping and real life shopping, there is one kind of shopping i dont like and thats food shopping so i use online store for that but there is bad things about that sometimes they dont deliver all the things you orderd so you still end up going to the shops any way but i think both are really good.
