Has anyone tried this? What was your experience with it? Did it help you with your problem? I was thinking of trying it to treat my anxiety. I tried the breathing exercises, tried tensing and releasing my muscles, tried doing an outdoor activity half an hour each day as my therapist suggested but none of that helping. I still get panic attacks. It's an almost daily occurrence for me now. I am interested in trying hypnotherapy to see if that will help before I ask my doctor about taking medication to treat it. What do you think about this treatment? Do you think it is a joke or do you think this therapy really helps people?

Many years ago I went to a dentist who hypnotised his patients and I loved him! It was amazing to me that I didn't feel anything and I never realized I had been "sleeping" when I came out of it. I've never tried it for anything else but I know people who have quit smoking that way. I definately don't think it's a joke. Hypnosis has to do with the mind and I think some people are just too strong willed to go under. Thankfully, I wasn't.

He was a hypotist too? Wow, that is great! I know I am scared of the dentist. That guy would have helped me tremendously the day I had to have my teeth removed. I tell you, that day for me was like torture. Thanks for responding.

I went to a hypnotherapist to give up smoking, and it did work. It was very relaxing, so I should think it would probably work very well for anxiety. I started smoking again a few days later, as I couldn't eat or drink anything without it tasting of oily fish. That was my tastebuds fault not the hynotherapists though!
