What age does your child have to be before you would let them start dating?

I told my kids that they could not start dating until they were 16. They waited longer. They were 18 or sowhen they started dating. I raised 2 of my grandkids and told them the same thing. one is 20 and has been dating for just about a year. The boy isn't dating yet. They did thing in groups of both boys and girl. they were allowed to go to school function with a boy or girl if they went in groups. Actually they seemed to have more fun that way. I stared telling them when they were very young how it would be. When they were in grade school they called hanging out dating.

My kids really didn't have a start date. My youngest daughter was 16 when she had her first boyfriend, my oldest daughter was 18. My sons were 19.

I dont think there is a given age, just listen to your kids. If they appear mature enough to date then let them. Also, dates at 12/13 are different than dates at 15/16. I went on a "date" with a guy when I was 12 and we just went to a movie and he gave me a little present, very sweet :)
