Have you ever hit your dog or cat?I never had since one week ago to my cat.But a little slap on his back, not to pain him.I felt terrible, but i after a while i calmed as i saw that he stills loves me!!I have heard that cats are a little revenger types and i was afraid, but he is ok.I advice not to hit animals. They will become angry and in the end wiil fear you and hide.

That is not true you have to let them know who is the boss if you dn't they will turn on you one of my cat's did and I let him know it, He bite me and scratch me in 4 or 5 different places when I pick him up it's was around my neck hands cheats so he I told him off for it and he took off to hide then came out and try to sit on my knee I did this for 3 days wouldn't let him come near me he felt bad now he's all over me...he will be same with eveybody he's so friendly. cd

hi, i have slapped my dog once or twice when he went viciously for the smaller dogs for no reason. They often get into small fights.Or vecause he will never stop barking. What i didn't know was that when he was a pup he was often slapped and for a while he was terrified even if you went to stroke him. Now i prefer a firm "stop, enough or William No" (i know william is a pathetic name) Jess=)

My pet dog barks a lot too and very load too as she is a Labrador. I only yell at her but never spanked her because of her noisiness.

I agree. We are so much stronger and a hit or a kick in anger can do serious damage to your pet. When I have a need to discipline a young dog I do what it's mother would do - a nip on the ear and a growl. It is far more effective.

Hi Zouna, I don't believe in hitting or spanking an animal. It's just like spanking a child, they're kids, they don't know better. I do like to play fight with my cat, and he knows when I'm playing with him because he'll smack, bite, or attack me back (not to hard cuz he knows we're playing). Sometimes he'll get out of hand and start biting too hard and gets out of control. Heck there are days when he wants to prance, hiss, attack, or jump on you just to piss you off or get attention. When he gets like this, all I do to him is: Slap my hands together to make a noise and say NO, KNOCK IT OFF, U BAD KITTY! Once I do this, he'll Meow as if he's saying "sorry" and start rubbing himself against my legs like a Kiss A$$. But other than that, Sebastian (tabby) listens very well and knows when to stop when I tell him.

I had hit my labrador pet before for destorying some important docs/things in our house, but it was only a little slap. and I regret it a lot for doing it. :( I will never hit her again, no matter how bad she becomes. thanks for sharing this with us
