so that we have someone to talk to and tell stuff to and so that we have someone that cares about us other then a mothers and father someone to trust with everything.

Hi,sylvester, friend is the fortune of one's life. Because all of us are human beings, we can not live in this society lonely, we need the help from others, and also we should give our help to others. friends are important when we need help.

No. Who told you that all of us have best friends? I do not have any. But I do have friends and as they are my good and loyal friends why should I need to have a 'best friend' to demean other friends of mine? For you know 'Best friend' can be only one not many.
