own design for house

have you ever thought of designing your own abode? if given the opportunity how would you rather have it?
me, i'd make it octagonal in shape but studio type. i wanna see anything and everything that happens in the room. also there would be an opening on the entire top part of the wall that is mechanically operated to save electricity on air conditioning and to control the coldness whilst having a little fresh air during chilly days.

Oh yes, I have always wished to design my own house. I actually want it to look a bit like the ones you see in fairy tale books. No not the castle but the cottage-type houses. Only, of course I'd make it more sturdier, wider and more spacious, with stained windows, low ceilings, a porch, an attic, and a balcony that goes around the entire second floor.
I want a garden around it and flowering bushes near enough to provide shade. There must be a gazebo where I can entertain guests and that should have a lot of plants around it too.
I might even design my own garden landscape!
