Ok mylotters, don't panic, I'm not going truther on you.
I have had questions about the attacks that day. While Idon't buy in to the entire "inside job" theory, I don't totaly buy the "official" account either. there are holes in it still and questions not answered, I still don't think we know everything and I don't think we have been told everything. Again, I don't nessesarily or entirely buy the inside job thing, so don't read anything like that in to this.
As I said, I don't think we have been told everything and every once in a while, something slips out from undere the door that confirms that belief, or slips a tiny thread of information out. This is one of those things.
There was some speculation that flight 93 may have actualy been shot down. Now whether this was done by fighter pilots on orders to protect the capitol or a rogue action is not clear. It is not even clear that it was shot down, again, this is just speculation that has been floating around and has ben since the first couple days.
Now, in a speech given several years after the attacks, rumsfeld had this to say. I don't know if it was a fraudian slip, or if he just mis spoke, if it was a case of misspeaking, thats one heck of a misspeak. at about 12 seconds:

In the context of Rumsfeld's comment, which lists attacks by terrorists around the world, an action by an agent of this government doesn't fit. I believe he meant to say "brought down" instead of "shot down".
My daughter and her fiance were members of a tri-county search and rescue team at that time. I can tell you from the radio traffic I heard on the police and emergency band radio frequencies that day, that the fighter jets from Andrews were flying a pattern that covered parts of Maryland & Virginia and all of D.C. If that plane had gotten too close it would have been shot down and our government wasn't trying to hide that fact. There were locations in both Maryland and Virginia where an action could have been taken without risking the lives of the people on the ground and first responders were on alert, waiting for the location.

Just so you're not turning into a "truther" on me! 
I lost a friend and former co-worker at the Pentagon that day...have seen hundreds of pictures and video of the plane before it hit the building and the aftermath. Wreckage of that plane was visible all over the place but the conspiracy folks always seem to overlook those shots. Above all else, no government intentionally takes out it's own military head quarters.

I guess in a way you could call me a "truther", because all I want is the truth, what ever that truth may be, I'm not married to any one theroy on it. but I'm not one in that I thnk it was a mass inside job by our government. I just honestly believe we haven't been given the entire truth and full account of the events.

The whole 9-11 thing is full of holes. For instance where is the plane that hit the pentagon? In fact have you seen the video of the hit and the result of that hit? What was shown sure looks like a missile to me. Why was to Utah professor silenced after his investigator showed that the way things were explained in the press was contrary to what he found. His field was structural analysis. Why did building seven fall, it was not hit? I have more questions but I am sure I will not get the answers her or any where else for that matter.

Ben, I lived in southern Maryland then and our local television stations were all over the Pentagon, which is in nearby Virginia. There was/is video from a security camera in a parking lot that clearly showed a large plane coming in way too low to have missed the building. There were reporters all over the place...this was not like the World Trade Center where you couldn't get close...and I clearly saw large pieces of that plane on the ground during the extensive news coverage that day and the days following.

Benhilo, I have wtached countless hours of video, read docs, listened to people and the inside job theory is as full of holes as the official account. I've seen enough pics of the pentagon, there were plenty of plane parts. As I said in my origianl thread, the official story doesn't 100% add up for me, but neither does the inside job theory, too many holes and a lot of what I saw on it after looking further in to the claims, turned out to be inacurate or extrapolated beyond recognition.

There's been dozens of teensy little mentions since 9/11 about potential new attacks. None of them have happened (yeah I know; yet)...and they've always more or less used them to make people more fearful, but I'd never claim that there's not a small chance that it's freudian slip of some sort.
*sughs* I guess this is just a good reminder that...there's always stuff to worry about.

Misi, I wasn't saying that there've been NO new attacks PERIOD...I was referring to specific attack type mentions, and mostly in reference to the United States.
And I do like my new nickname xfahctor! And heh, the way you describe it makes it sound like we've been consistantly mugged over the years (probably a more accurate description than some!).

Tell the people in London, or Madrid, or Bali, or Mumbai etc. that there have been no new attacks. The terrorists are picking out targets all over the world, they hate freedom and the free way of life we live, and will try to damage it anywhere they can.
I think law enforcement and security services have been successful in stopping a number of attacks both in the USA and around the globe as well. I am very grateful to them for keeping us safe.

I seem to recall hearing of that speech and how it kind of startled me at the time, then it somehow got forgotten. You've pretty much described how I've felt since 9/11; I don't really believe for one minute in the conspiracy theorists who say it was an inside job for the simple reason that there's no way something like that could have been covered up, especially for this long. There would be someone who would spill the beans! However, I don't think we've been told everything or the complete TRUTH about everything and I don't think we ever will be.

in all likelyhood, no, we won't ever have the whole story. People think I'm a nut or conspiricy theorist because I support a new investigation. I don't think it was an inside job either but, I don't totaly buy the whole official account of events either.
