Do you have other health issues along with fibromyalgia?

It was 6 months after I had my son that I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I also have deteriorating discs in my neck and back. I can go a few months with no problems then all of the sudden I have terrible pain where I cannot move and it just hurts so bad that I end up going to the ER. They do all the tests, x-rays, blood work and all that, give me two IV's and a pain shot so I am feeling good by the time I go home. :)) Yet, I have problems for about a year so after this bout.... Does anyone else have the same type of situation or have something else along with their fibromyalgia?

I have alot of sleep issues that is for sure, yet we need our sleep to "revitalize" our body and brain function. I know if i don't have much sleep my body just aches even more and i can't even walk. Yet, the doctors tell me to walk alot to help with getting my muscles and joints motivated and help with weight loss. Outside, the fresh air sometimes helps me just to be in the natural sun helps me also. I would hope they would put you on Claritan or Bendryl so you could enjoy the outdoors. I know i have a lot of the nerve issues also especially down my arms and fingers and yes, they don't like to do surgery due to the age. I wish you well and hope you can find some comfort in your situation. oh by the way, they did put me on "moody" medicine also but haven't diagnosed me with anything yet.

You know the guy that just answered you may have something there for Fibro---I went to a Chiropractor and he put a machine unit at the back of my neck and it hit the bone in the back .Insurances now cover this proceedure,I only needed three treatments and it gave me relief,He also did my lower back and I felt like new Person.Go to one that has a new machine that scans your back on the initial visit and he can see where all the hot spots are in your back.He also told me I DID NOT HAVE OSTEOPOROPSIS THAT ALL THE DOCTORS WERE TELLING ME I HAD. IT .GO FIGURE!!!Not sleeping will wear you down. You really have to take Medication to get yourself to sleep for some weeks for your body to get back.Lack of sleep will cause alot of other problems,Ask your Doctor to Prescribe NORTRYPTALINE -A low does everynight.THis is what they gave me in the beginning when they diagnosed Fibro. If you keep going like that without sleep you will start to have" IMMUNE SYSTEM PROBLEMS."You need to rest your body and Relax. You cant let other things worry you.,Take care and Get some Sleep!EVERYTHING WILL FALL inTO PLACE and you wont have so many other illnesses to deal with.TAke care and GOOD Luck!

Yes, I do. I had a car wreck ten years ago that was awful. As a result, there are discs in my neck and back that are not only bulging, but torn. I had a steroid epidural in my back a couple weeks ago, and I have another one scheduled tomorrow, and the next Monday. I'll have to have surgery they say, but they don't want to do it now because I'm so young (28). The fibromyalgia makes things more difficult, definitely. Along with all the other health problems I have.

When I was diagnosed with the fibromyalgia i was only 28. It is a shame that at so young more and more are starting have health issues and not live life normally, per se. I really feel for you and I am sorry for the accident.

I'm sorry YOU are suffering so. I imagine like me, you've had doctors tell you fibromyalgia was not real. One doctor told me it was a disease women made up in their heads. I filed a complaint against him.

I would have also. I know i hate going to see my doctor because i feel he thinks it is all in my head also. after so long, I have to go to the ER because i let it go and afraid to go and get checked. They really don't have a cure for it and i don't take all the medications since they all put me to sleep and i have a child to care for.

i have had depression even before all this and with the fibromyalgia and pain it does get worse. I have been experiencing more anxiety attacks but I also have alot of stress that does not help either of these conditions. I have been where you are with the morphine and weaned myself away from all pain medications; narcotics. thank you for your response and best to you and everyone else that has this.

No, I have not heard of drinking vinegar and water.....something i would never thought of. I had a hard time getting treated for this also since i just had my son and was working in a warehouse, i went to three different doctors, two specialist, and about three pain clinics. some would tell me i am just overworking for the lifting, and being on cement all day, then taking care of an infant, then home. Others would look at me say nothing is wrong due to my young age. (wouldn't even look at the x-rays, paperwork, etc.) Yes, heredity is important to know what runs in your family just because of a little gene that may have been passed on. Yet, no one in my family has these symptoms and i am the first. Yet, I don't know all that runs on my father's side.

Yes! I believ it is inherited .My father was from Europe and All is sisters had it and they called it: RHUEMASTISM --It is Muscle attached to the bone and tendons,Thats why people confuse it with Arthritis.Fibro is Muscle and Tendons Pain that s why you have to get the right medication.Something that works on the muscle and tendons,My father said his mother would drink a mixture of Vinegar and water???Whatever that did I really do not know.Has anyone everheard of this for a Cure for RHUEMATUISM(Fibromyallllgia)JB

I feel that everyone thinks dealing with the fibromyalgia is the worst. I know we put all other symptoms and whats the same we can come up with something to ease it. I know I try to deal it daily as everyone else and some days are easier than others. I feel for you and good luck.

Read all these comments and It is really very informative. Some of your other health problems are related to the Fibro,Not the other way around,I stll think that people that have it had ancestors from Europen Countries .No Cure Fro Fibro but Tolerable with right Medication.

I Am 70 and was diagnosed with Fibro at age 55.I did have at the time three degenerated discs in upper neck area. two years ago I went to a Chiropractor and he did a proceedure with a Machine at the upper back of my neck.It kind of Wacked the boneThats the only was I can discribe it.I had three treatments of 25.00 and now some Insurances cover Chiropractic Proceedures. It also helped my lower back.I really think --The firbro Myalgia and degenerated dics are somehow linked,I was always a very highstrung energetic person.I believe I just over did a Lot of things I shouldnt have as a Women. Its woth a try.Good luck.Try to find an over the counter "ANALGESIC TABLET"They really help.Go on line and Just type it in and locate a supplier to order. They are Not very Expensive and it sure beats Priscription Medications,

I seen in your other post you asked about weight. Yes, I am alittle over-weight and have lost 30lbs in three months, the doctor felt this had something to do with the fibromyalgia but I see it does not. It made me feel better about myself with losing weight, but i still have a great deal of problems with my neck, back and aches/pains. When i done my therapy they put me on a "stimulator" and that really helped and seem to relax me, they put in a order for me to get one for at home and still waiting that. I used to be very energetic also and now i am on some days and others not so well. especially when its cold out i do not like to be outside, but in the summer i love it and the suns heat feels good on my back and body. thank you for your response and information

Well, fibromyalgia has a million different symptoms so you can say you have Irritable Bowel Syndrome as well but it is common among fibromites. I have had fibro for 12 years but was just recently diagnosed with hypoglycemia. Well, my dad was diabetic so I thought it came from that but I have also heard it is common with fibromites. There are just so many aches and pains and spasms you can have and not be sure whether it's fibro or something else.

Yes, they done some blood work and other tests to check but at first it was just the deteriorating discs in the neck and back and had me go in for shots all the time and i was getting tired of doing that, then nothing was getting better and they finally narrowed it down to fibromyalgia. i know standing or sitting all day gets really hard on my feet and they hurt to where i can not walk, then swell up and it is miserable. Yes, there are times it gets inflammed and i have the IBS, very tired, exhausted, achy, sometimes just liked in a paralyzed state because i cannot move.
