i don't think so. if it happens, no, i don't think it would last. in my opinion, in order to for you to truly fall in love AND for it to last, you have to have a connection there...one that is much stronger than feeling sorry for a person.
however, i think that maybe if you feel such a way for a person, you may be more inclined to pay more attention to them, and in return, learn more about who they really are...and then fall in love. that isn't solely from being sympathetic toward them though.

Hmmm, good question. I would think that it probably IS possible, but that if it did happen, it probably wouldn't last. If somebody fell in love that way it would seem it'd be more of a rescue mission than real love. I would think too that a pity date would change an opinion of somebody, because if they're just dating them out of pity/sympathy, then they're not dating them because they have a genuine interest in that person. If it was out of compassion, understanding, and a real connection of minds souls and hearts, then that would be different altogether.
