Do you have a friend that cries poverty then buys a new thing the next day?

I currently have a friend that constantly says she can't afford to do things. However, the next time you see her she has a new outfit or something new. One of our mutual friends told me she won't go to dinner with her because she ends up paying the bill. It is almost like if you want to hang out with her you have to pay for her fun. When it comes to buying herself things, or doing things she wants to - she doesn't have a problem footing the bill. Anyways, any of you have that type of friend, and how do you manage?

no.. i dont think i have met anyone that is crying poverty and have bought himself, herself new things the next day, or the next couple of days. i always think when someone does cry that he/she is in need of cash, they truly need the help

Not literally - more of in the sense that she is cheap, and manages to get other people to pay for her movie ticket, dinner, etc. Then after she says that she can't afford to do something.. she ends up buying a new outfit, blackberry,...

I have a friend that always makes sure she forgets her cash at home and only brings a check, so that you end up having to pay for food. But while she doesn't understand the concept of actually paying people back, she is good at eventually writing a check at a store for something you want. Just out of the blue she'll be like, "oh, let me pay for that" and you don't object because you bought all the food for the last few times. But if you actually ask her to pay you back, she won't give up her money. Although, she doesn't work so she is always disappointed shopping with me. I have to be frugal, I make a very modest income. So she'll buy a bunch of stuff and then get mad I won't buy more. But I still have fun looking, I just have to remind myself I can't actually buy everything I want or I'll be sorry later when I get the bill.
